Changing coilpack Focus for an Escort one?
The coilpack on my Focus 2.0 ('02) has started to fail. I replace it for an escort zetec item which has the same connector and it runs sweet now. Just needed the leads too to get it installed. It wont fit at the focus bracket so I'll think I need the escort bracket as well.
But my question is can this swap do any damage to the Focus PCM (ECU)?

To be honest I wouldn't risk it. Although its probably the same inside just with different fittings so it should be alright, but I would rather replace with the proper item to be on the safe side!
What normally causes the coil packs to fail is the spark plug gaps are too large, so the coil pack is being stressed firing the spark across the plug which causes premature failiure. Could be worth sticking in a new set of plugs or regapping them too!
