First my English is bad so please write it simply
I want to know what to look at when I go to buy Saphirre 1.8?
What are her biggest problems?
Please be quick I go tomorow to buy it...

 

Biggest problem really is rust, which is quite obvious, it would be really wise to get the car on a lift/ramp to check for rust all underneath, also lifting the carpet in the bootfloor, make sure everything is solid..

Also engine taps/knocks/bangs

that's the bulk of it really, im sure other people can add more

 

Rust is the biggest problem without a doubt. If you can you'd be better off going for a 2l twincam as the engines are bulletproof.

My Capri was disaster and I spent 2y on restoration. This will be my daily driver so it must be ok in start.

 

the 18 engine is shit.

at least go for a 2.0 pinto or a 2.0 dohc twin cam - either way they will not be the fastest but can be tuned.

 

Mate dont bother with the 2.0 4x4, you could get out and run faster than that. stick with a 2.0 2wd if you can.
