What exactly have they banned? Smoking, or just with children?

I agree either way, just curious.

Thing is, you cant eat or drink at the wheel, so why should you be able to smoke?

Fair point but banning smoking in cars would have to be a blanket ban for everyone. Passengers can eat, drink, watch telly, play xbox, get cuntingly pissed but not have a cig!

Some doctors have said it should be banned, no ban mentioned as it wasn't anything to do with the government was it?

big enough to admitt they smoke? lol. A car is a lot different to a house mate. Come on i see the arguement for not smoking in a car with kids, fair play but a blanket ban! Come on thats just daft.

Any responsible parent shouldn't smoke in a confined enviroment when there's kids about.

As for a blanket ban on smoking in cars, that's fucking ridiculous. If I'm on me own in my own car I'll do what the fuck I like.

i don't smoke in the house, i go outside (all weathers) i also don't smoke in the family car but i do smoke in my work car and no kids enter that vehicle, why can't i smoke in my own car when i'm alone with a window open??? fucking stupid.

they ban eating
drinking
smoking so stereos, sat navs, hands free kits, cb's, and anything else used by any driver, and passengers should be forced to shut up too but that one is just for my missus

If they want to ban smoking from here there and everywhere because its so bad then why the hell dont they ban it full stop and make it illegal?
Answer - Because they make a fortune on the duty of it and woukld then have to look elsewhere to screw us.

As for calling for a ban to stop smoking in your own car, what a fucking joke, there are far more important issues that need to be looked at and dealt with IMO.

PS - I am an ex smoker so it doesnt really affect me.

Playing an X-box or eating a sandwich doesn't seriously damage a child's health. You are purposley putting said child at risk and not only is it very selfish, it's disgusting.

When I see it and I think of all the smoke in the lungs of children, sometimes babies, it makes me angry. These same hypocrits would be the first to tell you if you knocked their child or bumped into it causing minor to no injuries with a trolley I bet, and there doing far much damage all by themselves.

Anyone who smokes around a child, and more so in a car with one needs to have a serious word with themselves.

I agree it shouldnt be allowed to smoke in a car with children, but a BLANKET ban is insane! End off! The passenger's i ment were adults not kids as i dont like the idea of passive smoking for kids

I don't mind if someone wants to smoke in their car when they have no passengers
thats up to them

its when the person in the car in front throws their fag out the window
and it either hits my car or is very close, that really annoys me

natural selection people, thats what it is,people smoke with the kids in the car will probably have sickly kids, hence dying earlier hence thinning out the herd so to speak

I dont smoke with the kids in the car, but when they're not in it, I smoke in it. Its my car, I insure, tax and put fuel in it, I shall do what the f*ck I want to in it. I just see it as something else to hit the smokers with, double standards by our great government, on the one hand banning smoking from places and making us smokers out to be social lepers, but on the other hand, gladly taking the tax and duty we pay on our smokes.

I agree you should be able to do what you want in the car while in it alone. Banning that is taking away human rights, surely?

This has been done to the absolute death now, but i cant get my head around how you can think being banned from smoking in places where non smokers are makes you into lepers? Smoking in public places forces others to smoke your smoke, its not rocket science!

you need full control of the car tbh, you cant do that when your eating, drinking, playing with the sterio, setting the sat nav, pairing hands free kits, using cb's etc.

sterio, sat nav's and hands free kits should be set up before you leave for the journey or you will get a fine. next time you see a copper on the road, give him a peep and a wave, make sure he sees you and have a good mess with the radio, then the sat nav, then your hands free. im sure you will get a nice fine and possibly some points.

the point is, it should have been banned with the phones, cos when your taking a drag, or you get smoke in your eyes, or the ash drops off onto your knob, your not concentrating on driving, your driving without due care and attention, i hope people get whats comming to them.
