Default MK1 Focus RS Advice!!!

Sold my Frst last year, and want to get back into Ford Rs ownership.

So have decided to go for a Focus RS next week. Just got a couple questions to ask.

Standard bhp?
Common faults?
What to look out for?
What are they like to use for daily duties?

Cheers.

i would imagine they are good daily runner.

the only problem i can imagine is the same issue i have with my cupra r, 270hp cant put the power down through the front wheels in anything other than bone dry weather and im bored cause its not fast enough.

they look good though.

Ebony, would love to get a 3door, but as above now out of the question due to my circumstances.

212 bhp i think it is.

faults:
leaking thermostat, obvious to see crust round the casing. either cracked or burst seal round thermostat inside.
burst breather hose behind block to lhs with white valve in. loses boost
bushes are apparently an expensive job but not done mine and car at 65k
watch the clutch its about £1k to do.
turbo die on mine along with clutch at circa 60k
rear footwell carpet tears due to being too tight.
check the chargecooler pump works. seperate system from the rad. bottle at back of engine bay. open with engine running and check its pumping back to bottle.

Dont let that put you off though mine is fucking ace. exhaust and dreamscience with kn panel. i have a 3dr cossie and not sure i'd lose the frs first should i have to lose 1. dont listen to other comments. proper cool car on a day to day basis and i never get bored of mine. it pulls really well and little lag, straight on boost. i honestly cant fault it!

as for the grip prob on the ibiza, different here with the quaife diff.

oh another fault, gear cables stretch and a pain to fix.

any specific Q's just ask.

raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah

i should've known really to pre empt that Q.

no such thing officially. problem came when EVO mag called it 1 and 2. There were a couple of recalls that people call phase 2.

"2" would have:
extra stitches in seat base to stop sagging - not end of world mnine doesnt have it
different fuel map, AF instead of AE
pink throttle grommet to stop vibration - again i dont have it
words round the starter, "push button" or "push start" or summat like that.

And yes super.

I think in the early days these cars got a lot of unfair criticism but in the last few months i have read nothing but good reports on them.
Was reading a magazine recently but can't remember which one it was and they did a buying guide for the Mk1 FRS and if my memory serves me right they summed up the phase 1 and phase 2 differences pretty much the same as Lambchop has posted. They also said that it was a cracking car and any early problems have usually been sorted by now by the previous owners.
Good luck with the new car. Update us on what you think of it once you driven it.

Great on track. Up near 300 bhp and they give evo's a right good run on track. VERY capable!

Yeah i Know you have mate and i know you're very happy with yours but i just wondered what other users opinions of them are. Different people might have different "niggles", what might not bother one person may annoy the tits off somebody else so just wanted a few views on the car.

To be honest been busy sorting out the other half new car, MK5 Golf gti which I have been driving lately.

Have not found the right, Focus rs with low miles and standard.

Luckily Ive found a Focus rs pretty local, which ticks the boxes of what Im looking for. Going to see it on Thursday this week. So I will update if I purchase.
