Unless it's mint mint, they will try and haggle you down further still.
Friend of the familly used them to try and sell her 54 plate Honda Civic, filled out the valuation from honestly and when she met them they offered her £500 od quid less.
She walked away, think they're preying on those in difficult financial situations at the minute that feel they don't have a choice..

A boy local to me was offered £5k more for his RS4 than the local Audi dealer would give him in PX.
A boy at work sold to them too and he said they were OK. Still knocked him down by another £150 but that wasn't bad considering they'd offered £500 over trade-in prices and his car looked like it's been painted by Stevie Wonder on a windy day at Balmedie beach.
so sometimes its worth it and other times its not ide never take a fair good condition car there any way but was thinking about my escort cab cos its in quite bad condition tbh
If they find anything wrong with it other than what you've already told them they will knock you down but unless it's major, it shouldn't be by much. Best thing to do is take it to em and let em inspect it, they'll tell you there and then and you don't necessarily have to take what they offer.
Like any car trader they buy cars to sell at a profit, which means they need to buy them under the going rate in the first place.
For people who want no hassle selling a car and arent that bothered what they get it makes sense but if you are trying to buy a car and sell it on for a profit then you arent going to do so by selling it to the trade!

Chip,
No big mystery or scandal as I was just interested what the value was during my insurance claim so I could compare it what the insurance was offering to me as I didnt really have an idea of its market worth.
I didnt mention it was written off as I needed a value that reflected its worth before the accident.
They obviously dont use DVLA or insurance data to base their quotes on !

Simon, relax you are being paranoid, I wasnt attempting to say you were involved in a scandal by lieing to webuyanycar, in fact I would be genuinely indifferent if you not only lied on a form, but also posted them a turd in the mail as well, makes no difference to me.
Surely for an insurance valuation though you would be better looking at cars for sale, than the rate they offer to buy at due to the inherently lower value that way round?

fantastic company who i no longer work for. cant fault them. my basic was crap, £400 a month, the more customers we knocked off money the higher our earnings would be each month. im not going to be incriminating myself by slagging them off on a public forum but expect to be knocked down. im available for questions
Why are people shocked by them knocking you down when they see the car? They don't buy your car as a favour to you, it's a business.
It's like people who express shock when they get offered a crummy trade in price for their car.
