if you can get him to e-mail me with what he wants the website to do for him etc at peter@spacedogs.co.uk then i can give him a quote. It would be alot less than any agency would make it for ill assure you that.

heres some examples of my work:

Worth mentioning any of the following too:

Do you already have most or all of the imagery required (like did fast ford give you a cd when they were taking pictures up at your workshop, do you have originals of artwork for logos, pictures already done of customer cars etc)

Do you already have any form of CMS in place now from which data will need to be migrated or is it greenfield development?

Does it need to intergrate with your ebay shop or will that be handled seperately?

Does the multimedia section just need to link to youtube or will it need streaming from the server?

Do you already have your own hosting, or do you need that to be provided too?

Hey Martin,

This post was sent to Twitter and I found this topic from there. (Be prepared, I'm sure a lot of other Freelancers are seeing it as well and will be bombarding this topic with links... you've been warned... )

But I'm going to throw my portfolio into the hat anyways. Haha!

http://www.joshstj.com - I'm experienced in E-Commerce as well as custom built content management systems to fit exactly what you need your website to do. I'm based in Grand Rapids, Michigan - I'm guessing you're not from around that area.

If you don't want to work with someone far away from you, I'd totally recommend checking out http://www.craigslist.org in the computer section of your local city. I know a lot of Freelancers post their portfolios there, and I'd recommend finding a Freelancer and not an agency as previously mentioned.

An agency will just hire someone like me anyways.

Good luck with your site,
JSTJ

Do you already have any form of CMS in place now from which data will need to be migrated or is it greenfield development? I don't think the data can be exported from current CMS

Does it need to intergrate with your ebay shop or will that be handled seperately? No. Ebay will be done seperatley.

Does the multimedia section just need to link to youtube or will it need streaming from the server? Youtube links embedded on page.

Do you already have your own hosting, or do you need that to be provided too?Hosting can be provided by Martin or the web desiner can provide if they prefer

well that cost included a CMS and a UK based project manager who simply arranged the labour in Sri lanka. In fact this is what probably happens with your accountant too these days, as well as solictors etc. Possibly the 'UK person' you hire will do this anyway!

Thing is, anyone and their dog can build a webiste, but very few people can build good websites. Mine wasn't the cheapest, but a few e-commerce experts have commented on just how good it is in terms of how it looks and works. Mathew Todd for one

www.pritchards.co.uk. was made by a company called Visualsoft.

Whats your budget Martin?

Epic fail at the first hurdle IMHO when the title of the site is "pritchards" when it could have been "pritchards menswear" talk about an SEO fail on the simplest possible thing

Like you said, not everyone is equally good at this stuff, lol

Sites only a few weeks old. The SEO optimisation interface, live blog etc is still in development. Should have it Wednesday.

Also got the web address www.pritchards-menswear.co.uk which links.

And BTW I in no way think I'm a web expert. I'm new to all this hense why I didn't think about editable meta tags before I launched the site My point was don't take advice about a website from a group of people on a car forum who think you can build a good website for a few hundred quid. Because everyones an expert.

Word of advice Martin, get someone local and long standing and make sure you have contract where you have access to everything straight up all files templates and account details just in case. For ecommerce part is actually something anyone can do but how secure will it be? Most banks offering ecommerce back end software and technical support for own business customers its safest way to use banks liability not yours. Beware of freelancers your local council business link will provide you with subsidised web companies whos accredited with relavent standards and insured I had no idea about it until we got stung by cunting freelancers.
