Default 2004 Fiesta 1.25 idle issue

Got a fiesta in at the moment with an idle problem... most of the time its fine but every now and again as you approach a junction and coast the revs drop, pick up, drop, pick up, drop then stalls.

The other odd thing is that the idle varies from 1200 to 850 to 650 randomly....

any ideas?!

Its got an electronic throttle and I cant see the ISCV but to be honest I haven't looked hard LOL

u wont see a iscv as its built into the throttle body.majority of the time with fiestas your age its the throttle body that plays up but also a simple ecu update can fix these problems too.best to see if there any codes stored

I have the same problem with my 1995 1.1 HCS carb engine in my Fiesta. Will it be a similar problem, just I don't think mine has an electric ECU?

either iscv or the speed sensor for the gearbox also causes that issues for some reason

My brother had the same problem with his old fiesta and it was the idle speed control valve, you can try removing it and cleaning it, or just buy a new one.

Im not sure if its similar but my old escort gti had a similar problem too, that wasnt the iscv, it was the throttle position sensor, so might be something else to check

PCV valve/hosing. Could be collapsed hoses, split hoses, stuck PCV valve, air leak somewhere. Try having a look at those. Cheap and simple fix if it is and good to rule out before you start tampering with more expensive things.

i would take a look at the little black hoses at the front of the engine under the manifold to check if they are split.

check two breather pipes at front of engine its normaly the one to the right with the bend in it remove it and check it theysuck in and split and cause running issues like wot you got if thats ok disconnect speed sensor and drive but that will store a fault codelet us now if you fix it
