Default Very worried now- possible theft planned?

My brother rang me today to tell me three different people have knocked the door asking if my Cosworths were for sale, and asking about what bits they had on them etc? Also said that a few dodgy looking pikey types drove past a few times in thier van.... Now, both cars are locked and alarmed etc, but I cannot be at home 24/7, but three different people knocking on the door in one day is very strange, as I live in a quiet area and in a house that's not easily visable from the road... My problem is I have nowhere else to keep them really, and hiring a unit/ lock-up just gives people the chance to work in a quiet area at night

also consider fortifying the house very slightly just incase. For instace if you have a big dog, consider letting him sleep in the hall way tonight.

I know this is a little off topic, but is it legal to electrify bits of the inside of your car to help stop thieves?

Move the cars from there for a few weeks, they will soon lose interest.

Id take this very seriously mate, as it only takes minutes for the scum to take your pride and joy away.

Can have a word with my borther and see if he can rent you some space at his workshop if you like.

Is there nowhere else you can park them for a few days, mates houses etc? Problem is with disabling them, if they want it badly enough and cant move it, they will just pick them up and take them away on a lorry with a HIAB, same as my foremans was.

Had one guy (not 3) do the same to me but that was over a yr ago now. Trouble is Cossies still attract a lot of attention, both good & bad.

Apart from the usual Cat1, tracker & Disklock its worth putting the front wheels on full lock so they can't drag the car off the drive so easily. That & get one of these CA2000C Centaur Wheel Clamp. They'll go over 18" alloys so I'm told.

Best of luck mate !!

know how u feel mate, mine was on my parents drive for 3 1/2 yrs and i stupidly didnt cover it the day it was taken off the road so everyone and his mother could see it!!! I moved house 3yrs ago and my parents had loads of people knocking on the door asking about it, and 1 of them i knew and is/was a known theiving cnut!! I told them to tell whoever knocks on the door tell them the cars off the road cos the engine blew up and is out the car being rebuilt!! Not gonna stop them trying to take it but might put them off if they beleive it, althou it was true as i rebuilt a new engine for it and replaced it before getting it back on the road at xmas!!

Also had someone try and break into my dads car which used 2 get parked infront of it at nite, so at that point i did what people have said above, put it on full lock and removed the steering wheel and front left wheel and dont think that anyone bothered them after that.

Its proper shit and makes u feel sick when u hear things like that, least i know we got proper nosey neigbours where we live now, had 2 come out the other night having a moan at me for moving the car at 11pm making a bit of noise as the idle control valve is buggered so have to keep the revs up for the first 5mins

All i can do is move them mate or make it as hard as poss for them to get at them, least then the if u give them the only option of using a hiab they can attract alot of attention!!

Unplug the map sensor and remove the ht leads. As said aboe, get it on axle stands and remove the wheels.... also park it under something if possible, car port? big tree? then surround it with other cars to stop them getting to it so easily if they want to lift it.

I'd agree with the 'put it on full lock and remove the steering wheel;' comments so they can't tow the poor sods out. Maybe get an old banger or something parked right up to the garage door?

I think I am going to wire a racing style kill switch/key thing into my motor!

If ur not going to drive them for a while u could go to the extent of taking the ecu's out etc so theres deff no way to start rather than taking the map sensors/leads off etc!!

I had the very same thing happen to me, I diden't answer door though, someone else did then got told they asked if mine was for sale as they were looking for a "project car" don't know why as it's good condition and roadworthy, though I am not near you. You are right to be concerned as I thought same as what you did, alarms etc imobilising the car electronically and removing leads etc are all well but this does not stop someone putting it onto back of trailer etc. If you have another car you can block it in with will help.

You obv dont go round trying to push your own car over do you?

If someone cant have it normally they will damage it , and if its not your car and you dont care about it then you could push it off stands easy !
