agreed thats the problem these days cars are getting harder and harder to steal so people are resorting to more violent crimes to get them like car jacking and burglary while your in bed

if they really want your car they will get it no matter how secure you make it all you can do is slow them down

or failing that shoot the bastards

Stupid fucking idea.

So I take it that when you take your car into a Garage to get it repaired, the Mechanics are not able to move the car or test drive it? Great!

And yes, you would most likely lose the end of your Finger as some people would be that desperate to nick your motor!

if it was iris scanning and clever enough to not work on a severed eyeball then it might be quite good. Obviously would need a "valet/service" mode just like most modern alarms with anti-hijack.

Only way then is force you to deactivate system at gunpoint to steal car.

Apparently, biometrics will only work on a live sample, or if it's been severed, for about 10 minutes. After that then your severed finger is too cold and dry to work properly.

How true that is I don't know.

It's not new. Biometric alarms have been doing the rounds for a few years. There's a market for this kind of thing, but it's tiny, so it won't catch on.

The harder it is to steal the car the more likely it is you'll get injured or killed by the people trying to take it.

The scum doesn't give a shit about you, and when they can earn thousands by taking it, the rewards for a few minutes work is to tempting. In their eyes it's your fault if you get hurt, you should have just handed it over.Kill them and if you are not thrown in jail, you'll be targeted by the scums family as their mentality is 'my little angel didn't deserve to be killed'.

Sadly the best you can really do is make yourself and property less of a target so that they will move on and choose an easier target.

Cars will get taken, and although it wont stop it, companies making it easier to trace the car and get the car back and the law giving out stronger punishment will only help to make it less of an easy source of cash.

Stupid idea for cars, they will simply kidnap you, if they're willing to shoot to get cars kidnapping is nothing.
Ace in some situations just not car alarms, bit like thr racist HP software, facial recognition, uses cameras to recognise and follow your face but doesn't work on black people ha ha!!
It recognises faces primarily by differences in colour/dark, so in a black person there is basically no/too little contrast to work, trialled it at Whitesands NM.

all the negativity but what else can you do?? you suggesting we give up on car security and "accept" that criminals will steal our cars on a regular basis?? Or just buy shitters and never own anything nice so it cant be stolen???

Its just like an arms race. We upgrade, they upgrade thier methods. And long shall it continue. We are no where near as bad as South Africa was in the 90s. Sure one day we WILL be that bad but when that happens something will be done by the authorities, as it was in SA.

Whether we like it or not we have to live with it until the authorities choose to make the penalties such that its not worth doing the crime.

And if your not prepared to accept the risks then you have a choice to not own nice things dont you?? If that means in life to protect your family and possessions you end up either owning nothing nice or living in a gated community then so be it.

Thats the way our society is heading and those who cant afford to protect themselves will be at the prey of criminals.

Pretty obvious really! Its just what happens in societys in social decline.

Where the alarm filled the car with smoke?

Some sort of clifford style anti hijack switch, once in the car and its running, if you aint done the little up down combinations and its been 30secs or so woth a warning beep, your car fills up with dense smoke

yep fil and the flame grilling devices. You want flame grilled car jacker??

But the problem is with society NOT car security. As i said its just like an arms race, if one side stops, so does the other.

Surely thieves would just bypass it like they do normal alarms?

Its just a more complex version of the little keys you have to push into some alarms to deactivate.

Pointless in my opinion.

its not quite that easy to overcome an ecu based imobilizer, like most modern std fitment ones tbh.

the aftermarket ones i agree are fairly easy with a bit of time to get past.

ahh but many modern cars have the alarm integrated into the ECU. You cant hotwire round that. Even ford PATS is integrated into the ECU. In future cars its going to be even more integrated to the point where a car thief would need a laptop and OBD cable and hack in to bypass the alarm.
