I love F1, I said on here and another forum I go on that that was one off the dullest F1 races I have ever seen, shame really as I have been looking forward to this for months, well basically since the end of the last campaign. the decision to not allow re fulling is going to turn out to be a big fuck up of epic proportions imo.

Agreed. Its bloody boring F1. Shame really.

I also agree that Moto GP is better, but its WSBK where its at this year! Sooo much better than Moto GP and F1 put together. Mainly because its unpredictable and riding a bike on the edge is more exciting than riding a car on the limit (in my opinion), so can appreciate what they are doing more i think.

Also, everyones likes a crash or two, and WSBK will be full of those this year. So much talent in there at the moment so it could be any of 10+ riders up near the front. Moto GP will be the same old predictable stuff unfortunatly.

I was looking forward to it all week, watched the build up for an hour and then when the race started I got bored by lap 10 and turned it off. I'll refer to this post next Sunday so I don't make the same mistake.

Spot on! 4 world champions in the field, it should have been brilliant. The cars are so far off qualifying pace in the race. Why do they keep getting it so wrong?

GP2 - I watched these races and they were so much better.

Same here, i've looked forward to the new season for ages now but was bored to fuck today and fell asleep!

I dont think the track helped though, really boring track with no personality, too wide as well so it takes away the sense of speed imo, much prefer Spa or Monaco, or suzuka, the old tracks have much more atmosphere imo.

glad im not the only one who thought it was a tad boring ...

stops give the race an edge .. tactics play a great deal in the race that way ...

today .. well ... tyre stops ... woohooo 1 stop .. great .. im sure the teams have all thought about their tactics well in advance for that thrill ....

I watched the 1st 5 laps, went out to view a car, took it for a test-drive, offered a deal and left thinking it over... Got home, watched the last 5 laps. Game on! Hahaha

How come they have stopped refueling? Do they have bigger tanks now then or what? (not that into F1 as you can guess)

They banned it for safety reason's, mechanics were getting pulled down the pits with refueling rigs still connected to the cars etc, there was also a few fires last year.

the cars now have bigger fuel tank which make th cars longer, but pit stops are only for tyres now which will take approx 4.5secs

To me formula one should be about:
Pushing technology boundaries for speed
Developing useful technology to hand down to road cars
Exciting racing with overtaking

Sadly it has none of the above anymore, the excessive rules have really killed the sport IMHO, they keep bringing in more and more rules to try and get the budget down, but it doesnt work as the more rules you have the less room there is for innovation and the easier it becomes to buy your way towards the front of the grid.

Shame, as there are some truely great drivers out there, but you really dont get to see how good they are when they are all just spending 99.9% of the time looking like a quicker version of a parade lap.

Indeed - it's a trend that from what I understand started with the active-suspension Williams way back - other teams get jealous, bitch about it, get it banned, cars slower next year, someone rich finds another way to go faster, cycle starts again.

not 100% true, kers which was there last year is filtering its way into road cars and other things that we dont get to see/know about end up getting used in other areas!!

But agree other than the kers giving a bit of an edge last year there hasnt been alot that makes the races any more exciting, and agree its the beginning and the end that ususally provide most of the entertainment lol.
The no fuel thing is stupid and as said has privided entertainment when thngs go tits up lol, come next year they gonna ban pit stops altogether?!

Think the last time i actually got excited watching a race was when lewis took the title as we were at mclaren headquaters and the atmosphere was electric by the end!!!

Proper boring now

This is how I would sort it out......

Ditch all the current rules except cockpit safety then...

Set a fixed engine capacity.
Bring back turbo's
Shoot Ecllestone.

Job done

The Toyota Prius project has had various KERS features for a decade or so anyway and it wasnt in F1 long enough to really benefit mankind much as a whole, but yes thats the exactly the sort of technology that I would like to see stay in the sport, but it hasnt.

How I think the rules should work to promote economy, innovation and safety:

Your vehicle must fit within a 12 foot by 6 foot box
No fuelling allowed during races
At the end of the season your race director will be crashed into a solid wall at the MIRA test track in your car, at half the Vmax you achieved during the season, if he dies then you lose all your points for the year

That would get the sport back to being interesting, and would also benefit mankind a lot more as a whole as it would enourage massive leaps in technology.

Is a joke really as its the one thing that made it a bit more interesting last year!! once upon a time teams were fully supported with the technology they introduced etc and now its too much of the same thing.

Be easier to just let teams within reason do whatever they want/need to get their car top of the leaderboard!!!

Agreed, hence I think the only rules should be the maximum dimensions of the vehicle, a restriction on fuelling down to what the cars can carry from the start (to promote economy), and then a safety rule that the cars should be crash tested at the end of the season with points lost if they fail.

I was really looking forward to this season and usually defend F1, but as most of you have said, it was a massive dissapointment, they keep harping on about premoting overtaking chances and once again, they have made things worse.

It is supposed to be the pinacle of motorsport!

the rules are so stringent that there is no room for true inervation, such as 6 wheelers, turbos, active downforce and active suspension etc, imo they should be allowed to explore any of these avenues in order to make the cars differant from one and other and faster!
