My External Wastegate made a bid for freedom!

Pulled the 3 door into the garage last night after a bit of a drive pull the bonnet up while I let it idle to cool down and noticed the wastegate was waving around:

So this morning set about taking the turbo off (which is a right mission)
Two and a half hours later we have this:

It had cracked the weld on the manifold flange, the weld didn't look very substantial.


Plus the gasket had failed too

So off to the welders Monday and i'll also make up a wastegate hanger as well to try a prevent it happening in the future.

Had the manifold re tig welded on Friday going to bolt it all back up tomorrow hopefully and set about making a surport bracket although i'm not sure it'll need it now the weld is much stronger but it can't hurt.
I'll knock something up in cardboard and then get it laser cut in Stainless Steel.
