Default Easy way out of a phone contract?

Hi all

I've got an N96, just over a year into the 2 year contract. To cut a long story short, my first phone's earpiece stopped working within a couple of weeks, was repaired and returned with same fault. Sent for repair again, and returned with a wobbly slider. Sent away again and was given a replacement (but second hand) phone from the repairers.

January this year I cracked the screen (100% my fault) so it was sent off for repair and I paid the insurance excess. Last week the screen randomly died, so it went for repair again. It has now been returned with screws missing so its slacker than a 200,000 mile Vectra taxi's gearbox.

So 2 phones I have had have been away 5 times (once to repair damage I caused though) and it just seems that Vodafone send it to the local primary school to have it fixed. Seeing that I also wouldn't mind being out of the contract as I rarely use it and its just a bit of a waste of money, do you think I've got grounds for getting out of the contract early?

Cheers

Rich

how long have you left.

Say there lowest tariff is ten pounds? just lower it then pay the contract off at the ten pund line rental times the number of months left. think thats the easiest way I know of mate

If you read your contract it does state that your only really paying for the service plan, in most cases you will find that the phone was given to you as an incentive to take on the contract for a minimum term, 2 years in your case.

Phones 4 U offer cashback when you take out a new contract with them which you could use to pay your old bill off with, failing that why not drop your current tarriff down to the minimum possible price plan and then send your phone off to Mazuma (£112) or the like, you can then cancel the contract and pay it off that way.

My dog chewed it 3 times

Front and rear covers plus buttons plus screen was under £50 and that was a good 7 months ago now

Does this work? I thought about it myself, but wondered if they would involve the Police?

get someone to say you have been in an accident and now in a coma,or lost both your ears in a freak dj'ing/headphone/fire related accident,so wont be needing the phone for a while, they are hardly going to investigate it especially if the caller with the bad news puts on a great weeping act .
