Fiesta Turbo Starting/Running Problems
hi!
Just wondering if someone can give me some pointers.
i recently bought a FRST, and im having a few issues with the starting/running on it....
When cold, its takes at least 10-15 GOOD cranks to get it going, with no throttle. If you try using throtle, it wont even start at all. when you do manage to eventually get it running (the battery is nearly dead then!), any SMALL throttle movements completely knocks it out and you cant rev it. If you let it warm up though, small throttle movements makes the engine "gulp" air before revving up, like a hesitation, but after that you can rev it right to the rev limiter, but any small movements continues to gulp the air before revving up. Its worth noting that the car WONT start from cold with the ISCV connected. It has to be disconnected for it to start. Not sure if thats relevant, but i wouldnt have thought a disconnected ISCV would make a difference in starting as it doesnt seem to make a difference on my cossie.
The other thing is, when warm, the car idles @ 2000rpm with the ISCV connected. If you disconnect it, the revs drop right down to 700rpm (ish).
Someone has obviously played about with it before, as it has a brand new ISCV fitted on the inlet, and has the original one chucked in the boot, so someone has tried changing it before.
The car is on OFAC management, NOT chipped, but has a T3 conversion and FMIC. Again, i wouldnt have thought it would make much difference in starting/idling, and i have plans to get it chipped anyway.
any help would be great as its doing my nut in. Would rather have a go myself before booking it in with a tuner.
Thanks!
