Default Black RS 1600i full restoration

been meaning to do this for about a year!

Bought my rs 1600i over a year ago, only just moving into a house with access to a garage! so the fun will start mid march!

I bought the car complete but I only have the shell on the drive at the minute, the rest of the car is in my mums garage, and a few bits hidden upstairs in the bedrooms lol (dont tell the wife)

welding needed, 2 rear arches, floors, battery tray needs re doing, front panel, rear panel, and other things, cant wait!

im in two minds what to do at the minute, the car is going to be restored to its original condition, but i want it a bit faster, but not an rs turbo transplant, so im debating wether to supercharge it but still try to make it look factory fitted under the bay, and i think it will be rather unique,....anyway thats an idea im toying with, nothing set in stone,.....any feed back welcome.

well here is the old rotten poor old girl!

new genuine wings wooo!

few of the engine, which is near complete (more than the car anyway!)

i know its the wrong cylinder head! iv already been informed so if anybody knows of anyone selling a 16i head let me know please

plenty more to come......

black or white? i have no idea now

i like black, but a pain to keep clean, but really id like to do it whatever colour it came out of factory, which i dont know as of yet!

its been black for at least 11 years as iv been through all mot's but i dont have any before that

if i cant find out il flip a coin

so what colour do people prefer on the 16i? black or white?

thanks for the feedback tho, it helps me make it right in the end

Hello,
does the car have the original identification plate on the front crossmember? There should be the number of the original colour.

Blank canvas really, there are some nice colours around nowadays. Depends on your budget, white would be a safe bet. Good luck with all the welding.
