Default Intercooler painting

Morning all, hows everyone.
As the snow as proper fucked my plans for stripping more off the car, need to find some jobs in the garage.
Want to paint my Intercooler black. Its a Airtec one in polished ally, two questions before I start, one how do I remove the fans from it, they seem to be like a plastic rivet, don't wanna go at it like a bull in a china shop a bust them, so what the best way of removing them?
Second question, I'm guessing I need to rub the ally down, best grade of wet and dry, Iv got most form 400 to 1500, also what the best rattle can paint to use?
Cheers dave

the fans are held on with specific cable zip ties, so will just have to cut them, then buy new 1s to attach the fans again after

as for painting, just give it a quick key with some red scotch pad, coat of acid etch primer, then some rattle can satin black

As above, no need to use wet and dry

Oh the ones on intercooler look like plastic rivets, I'll have another look tomorrow.

Cheers for the other info.

another question, if I want to change to having my fan in between the intercooler and rad, do I just buy so slimline fans, and mount on the other side of the intercooler?

fan fitment will depend massively on what type of cooler u have and what type of fans

it is just a matter of using spacers on the brackets really, then trimming the bumper accordingly. my radtec bracket design just doesnt suit being spaced out forwards, so its just fitted nice n snug against the rad, 2 fans on the front, and the result being i dnt even need to trim the bumper. spacing it wud mean massive bumper mods, just to clear the brackets themselves!

Well my intercooler is a Airtec one, so any more info on this would be very helpful.
