Went to put the car away before and started it up there was a clunk when i pressed the accelerator pedal, now when it starts it revs to about 4k!!! dont want to start it again like this incase it does any damage ,being stone cold. When you sit in the car the cable moves under the bonnet so im guessing it hasnt snapped? altho if you lift the pedal rather than push it in it comes out of the locating point in the bulkhead.Should it do this.?

Remove the cable from the arm on the throttle linkage (in the engine bay), and make sure the butterfly isn't jammed open. If it's all moving freely and returning to the closed position maybe the throttle position sensor has moved/jammed?
Checked the throttle and the cable and all is ok there, its a jamsport inlet so a bit different to the normal one, has a cossie iscv which i checked but not that either.Any other ideas guys?

if the throttle is closed and its still reving upto 4k then you have air leak it wont rev without air ! have a look at all the vac pipes that come off the inlet (boost gauge map sensor ect .
if the throttle is okay mate ie the cable and the butterfly you may have an air leak,
The car runs on enrichment at start up so an air leak will just cause it to rev, if every thing throttle related is fine have a look at the hoses
Sorry mate should have read your spec list, the above relates to MFI really, but should be essentially the same with efi. So do as crazycage says and have a good look for air leaks.

Cheers buddy, would just a small airleak cause the engine with this setup to rev like like mad then?
it's an easy fix on your inlet, if i wasn't going away tonight i'd of sorted it for you for the postage each way but you might find a like minded person on here who'll do it for you gratis with some postage and give it a good check over at the same time
^^ Thanks guys thats really kind of you The car is back at my tuners at the moment so see what they say when its all apart as not seen under the inlet yet. Will let you know how it goes.
