Default Escort mk3 RS1600i from Holland

Last saturday the project was started. I have a real challenge because he needs to be done before the Ford Fair 2010 begins. Plans are to drive him over to the UK, with the Ford XR/RS club members from Holland.

First it was to strip down the interior and next saturday to remove dash and engine. Here some pictures of my project, hope to get it updated as much as i can. Hope you like the pics:

after a while it becommes this:

- new front wings
- new front
- new arches
- new backplate
- new right door
- new sills
- new floor panels (where in need)

and get it painted from the in- and outside in Diamond white
Got it really bussy the next few months

Also done my Fiesta XR2 mk2 and finished it last summer so i now whats going on

Default update 25-02-2010

Just an updat from last saturday tomorrow i will go again and do some work. Engine is allready out of the car, good for a huge clean and some new paint and parts. I know whats coming with cleaning and all that kind of stuff, did the same with my Fiesta XR2. Next job is welding all the new panels; front, side, back etc. Cleaning the wheel arches and under side body coating gets completely off...

Here some pica's of last saturday:

some more photos from last visit at the car on the 27 feb

the bulkhead needs a very good clean nothing major. Most is surface rust with a wire brush i should clean it easily

Need to weld in some new mounting point for the side wings

I didnt expect some lucky spots

under the fuse box it was all nice!!

most bad place of the whole car. only place i don't know is the right side of the car at the back wheel arces and of the inside of it

some point at the driver seat but nothing major, still fixable

Default Update RS1600i made some progress with repairs

Still a lot welding needs to be done, few things done by previous owners is not something that i wanted on my car. Wings where sealed to each other, front wing sat stuck with only 2 spot welds

Some mess I guess so, but we keep going just as on my previous resto on my Fiesta XR2 mk2

Here some pictures from the RSi..... and all the welding and cutting that is done and still needs to be done.

Default another update on the RSi

Time for some updates: resto is still goin on
And still a lot to do
Did clean many of the parts which gone of the RSi and they will be looking as new. Starting with cleaning the engine room from all the oil and dirt

gear sticks or how do you call this...

Looking a long time for original Ford panels, finally scored a scuttle panel and side wings for my beloved RSi. In Holland its really hard to find, but managed it at the end

clean of the tape and dirt

Clean a lot of stuff the last couple of weeks but no time to get you guys updated... New warm up reg turned up cleaned and painted it. And mounted it together. Its for my spare RSi engine you cant have enough spare parts of is. Got almost 2 complete engines now.. only missing gearbox/alloy rocker cover on one.. Maybe at Ford Fair

So it looks like in the beginning

And its still the same example not bad

Scored some new rubbers for brake cilinder fluid reservoir
