The radio reception in my Saph is dire. I had the same (sony) stereo in my last car and it was fine. In the Saph, I can just about pick up radio1, classic and a couple of crappy locals - Thats it.
Is my signal booster knackered or are they all like this?
Thinking of fitting a roof aerial like the later fords. Anyone done this?
Any help appreciated

To be honest, I am not 100% sure that using the rear heater wires as an aerial is the best technical solution, but I can understand it avoids spoiling the lines of a car with unsighly floppy things.
Mine is not too bad, as long as I am not too far away from the station, definitly not as good as a home getto blaster or something like that.
It may be worth changing the booster as you said, but, I would first make sure you are actually getting 12V to it, there is a wire from the head unit which tells it to power itself on. Could save you a few quid.
I changed mine a while ago, I remember it being a pig of a job though.

Cheers - I might try that.
Currently its so bad I cant get the RDS clock on the stereo to work. (bit of a bugger as I threw away the standard clock for a boost guage

That's not good at all...
At the back of the stereo, there should be a blue/white (usually) wire which is the remote turn on, this should be connected to the aerial power lead (forget which one).
Start with that and work your way to the booster.
You could also get a cheap aerial and just plug it in to see if that makes a difference, then take it back

I got a small one on the rear deck. reception is perfect with it. dunno if its aftermarket or factory fit though..

wicked pic RSCosworth
nasty stripes, and nasty aerial. those germans certainly know how to ruin a car
i find the rear screen aerial absolutely brilliant. it's way better with my pioneer head unit than my ford original though.
you know that the boster is located under the parcel shelf, and that it's a bugger to get to all of the wiring that runs behind the headlining from front to back?

I got a £150 fine in that car, but had some fun with it before RSCosworth got his wide ass on the plane and collected it....
Nice car, nice rebuilt engine soon. Too bad you car didn't take the pain of Arctic Circle Raceway as good as my home-made pies of junk RSCosworth...
