Last pieces of the puzzle are here!
The pistons!!
I can finally start building my new engine!

Two questions though, which way round to the pistons go, arrow and small valve cut out pointing to the front of the car or to the rear?
Was such a long time ago that I took mine out I cant remember! lol
Also these rods dont have an oil spray hole like normal rods (which I think is odd?!) so is there a correct way round for these or does it not matter?
Cheers!

When is it mate?
All depends on when the car is back together, bought a Quaife quick rack today so thats another thing on the list of things to do/fit before i'm on the road again!

Hopefully will be running by the end of the month, all depends on what the weather is like though...... dont want to be outside in the freezing cold/rain/snow fitting my engine! lol

Well i'm spec'd for 220-240bhp, my limiting factor is a Stage 2 T3 (.36/55) so hopefully something around that!
Ye sorry for the Hijack mate lol
The day before central day is a RWYB day as well so we usually turn up for this because central day is busy busy.
Be nice to put a few names and faces together!
240brake Karlos? I seem to remember someone getting a healthy 250ish with that spec, although saying that i am looking for a .48 exhaust housing to jam on mine when i rebuild it.
Rob,

Rob,
When I last spoke to Karl Norris he advised a .48 to keep temps down and to dial in a little cam advance to reduce lag, but I want as much response as possible not worried about big bhp printouts, so staying with the .36 and hoping things dont get to warm

Ah lol
Saw your motor in this months FF, nice little toy you have there mate!

.48 would be much better. Also if you take a good look inside a std .36 most of them have cracks.... Even rebult/recon ones from leading suppliers, you would never know as most people who buy them wouldnt strip them back down to find out!
Yeah I just dont want the lag thats the trouble, it is a 'new' turbo from TT but I guess you've seen enough to know, and no I have not stripped it down to look.
I'm also only running a stock gearbox so it's already on it's limit at over 200bhp, I know if I had a .48 on there I couldnt help myself but to run to the limit and be pushing up near 260bhp+....... trying to build a reliable car not one that needs a new box every 10mins! lol

Really?? When i've had stage 3 T3's (.48/55) in the past i've noticed at least a 500rpm difference in spool up
It doesnt sound a lot but when we have such a short power band every little helps!
Have you got a link to those graphs please?
Cheers!

cant put up links on here fella, traders get the hump think im trying to sell something instead of helping which is pretty obvious if you read in context.. lol
anywhos you should know where to look by now mate

Yeah my full spec as it stands now is:
NMS Head, PP, SS Valves, etc..
Newmans Cam with solids.
TT Stage 2 T3 (.36/55)
Stock Crank, PEC Rods, Wossner Pistons CR 8.5:1
Radtec FMIC.
Apexi AVC-R EBC.
Megasquirt MS2 Extra.
AP Racing CP2000-35 Clutch.
Hydraulic Clutch Conversion.
Focus ST 300mm front brakes, Cossie rears.
Spax Adjustables.
Fresh BC Box with Quaife ATB LSD.
Quaife 2.2 quick rack.
Think thats about it... Should be a nice nippy little car, although power steering is next on my list of jobs for the summer

I was watching mate, forgot to bid lol happy i tho as i would only have pushed the price up for you. etc.
Infact that was my exact thought! Quick rack and power steering (motor from a punto or even MGF) as the turn in would be great but also parkable
so good luck mate

Rob,
Phil from www.extraefi.co.uk mate, i've bought 4 ECU's through him now, top bloke
Nice one cheers mate,
I looked at him but think i will buy a kit which i don't think he sells.
Corsa PAS motor is probably better than the puntos as loads of these have failed. Think the mgf is electric too, so you could poke your head up your girl friends (excuse me) and see how adaptable it is,
HOWEVER
Power steering and LSD's don't mix that well with torque steer, a lot of 4x4 cars don't have lsd's up front for this reason, and most fwd cars don't have lsd's and assisted steering because of this (unless the have torque proportioning diffs),
The electric steering is perfect, you could turn it on when you want to park and off for 'spirited' driving
