Default What causes fish eyes in paint?

Painted a set of rims for a mate in 2k paint with a 1.4 setup,mixed right used 2k sws thinner an 2.5bar used a diesel space heater to warm them up, been out looking at them now an I can see very small fish eyes what the cause of this? What am doing wrong? Cheers andy

might be reacting to something in the air?any silocene (sp)and ya fecked!although i thought it was only the water based paints that fish eye?

deffo silicone, wipe all wheels down with panel wipe or standard thinners, if using basecoat just keep dusting it on lightly to eliminate..

usually from people using artificial shine on tyres..

it could be your heater too,diesel gives you a silicone type reaction aswell and is released from the burner sometimes so id pre heat the room and switch it off,degrease then take your time building up coat by coat.

diesel heaters give off diesel fumes!no good for painting

we used a diesel heater in paint shop for years painting al the while ,place that had no booth as such ,id say its tyre shine

most booths are diesel fired then it only goes through inlet filter so cant see that being right?

You could give it a coat of Isolator ,Then paint as normal
