Clio Williams was the best fwd hatch i've driven, next to nothing in it performance wise between that and the newer Clio 172, but it was a much better driving experience.

Wouldn't class an Escos as a hot hatch. Yes, it's a hatch-back but it's always been out of the normal hot hatch price range.

If I was to buy a hot-hatch, I'd probably go for a Fiesta ST. Focus is great too but IMO too big and heavy

It depends on your driving style as much as anything IMO.

Take me for example, I tend not to slow down into corners compared to other people, so for me a RWD would be a nightmare as I'd spend too much time with the rear wheels doing nothing useful.

I have had an Integra Type R DC2 and on the road and the track (Brands) it was absolutely stunning to drive. Good feedback, power and handling. You could put it in a corner and you knew what it was going to do.

My 4be is so quick round corners compared to most other cars I have had/driven but slower in a straight line compared to some 2wd cars. But it would get me round the corner, not straight on into trouble.

205 for me too, only ever driven a Mi16 and the way it held after being chucked in at 60-70 on tight bends just stuck with me...

106's are up there too though, the S1 Rallyes aren't more than 100kg over a Mini and can beat most round the track with 130-140hp

I quite frankly couldn't get on with my 205 track car, I had a 182 for a Road car and it was ok but for me the Ph1 172 was awesome - it just seemed to work properly as it had 15s.

So for me... a Ph1 172 Clio....

Having said that my ST170 is pretty damn planted but just not as fast.

Puma 1.7

Look at the list of cars in the back of EVO magazine, and read the rating.

5 stars out of 5, and the summary...

+ Everything
- Nothing

Says it all. Awesome little car that costs fuck all to buy and run.

I think all the recent Ford hatches have superior chassis' to any of their rivals.

I don't necessarily just mean the "hot" versions either.

Every Fiesta from the MK4 onwards has been a revelation.

Same goes for the Focus. When the original Focus came along it showed everyone else how much fun a run-of-the-mill mid-sized hatch could be.

Ford, even their shitty shopping hatches are nice to drive compared to their contemporarys so IMO they are the greatest driving hatches as they have good handling running throughout the whole range and always have done

If you are asking who made the best hatch for a one off sunday blast down your fave lanes without taking into account day to day practicality then Renault, the R26R is the most focussed and driver rewarding hot hatch their has been and the clio 172/182 were little gems and kick any Honda hatch into touch

if your talking about the entire honda range then your just been silly or are you on about uk only? as the honda's over in japan make the r26r 172's etc look very average
