yeah but if you get bored of biking at least you aint spunked a small fortune on a flash bike gathering dust,get a unicycle?then you can hide it under the stairs.........
got told i had epilepsy 6 months ago cant drive at the minute so you can imagine the frustration i spent £1450 on this beast and its the best money ever spent you wouldnt believe some of the downhill courses by us forest of dean, cannock chase etc what an adrenaline rush

The current Specialized range is giving good value for money. best thing to do is pop down to your local bike shop and ask for some advice. if they are any good, they should guide you the right way, and work to your budget

I have to agree with sapph1, i ride (occasionally) a scott elite, used to have a specialized. both are great.
tbh if its possible you may not stick at it look at the carrera range at halfrauds. the top end ones use some good kit. an ally frame is pretty much an ally frame these days on the moderate priced steeds.
if like me your a big chap look out for front suss forks almost bottoming out as soon as you sit on it.

budget = £2.50 maybe £3 at a push
Type = huh ??

tbh , it will be used as little as possible , most likely for short rides along the seafront , probably only once or twice just to keep the bitch quiet . It will then end up in the garage next to the brand new unused one i bought her 6 months ago
.I doubt she will enjoy riding anywhere difficult,dirty or uphill and when i get time on my own im out on my ski so it really hasnt got to be anything special. As much as i would like a full carbon/kevlar nitro filled tyre rock hopping sport billy bag carrying demon! it would be a complete waste .
I would like it to last at least a year before it starts rusting and things fall of it though.
does that help at all
I bought a GT Aggressor XC1 from Halfords on the offer for £440 plus a £20 voucher to either sped on lights or lock, happy with the overhall bike apart from the forks not having a Lock Out.

Had a Gary Fisher Mountain bike in the past and for road/track riding it was great.

If all you wanna do is roll down nice smooth cycle paths once in a while then it's pointless spending a fortune, summat like this would be more than up to the task:

Really is good exercise though, the weight will fall off you if you ride regularly, and what better way to chill out and get away from a nagging mrs, especially if the sea front is full of totty once the weather warms up a bit.

I'll probably get knocked for suggesting it, but for general use Carrera bikes are decent value for money. I've got a Kraken, and despite problems with utterly clueless Halfords mongs (not all are bad) it's been a good bike.
Couldn't fault the Kraken i had 5-6 years ago, just kept away from the halfords muppets once i bought it.
Thanks for the reply's chaps
I spent over an hour in halfrauds today with a genuinely nice/helpfull fella , should be getting it on tuesday
The local specialist bike shop guy had his head so far up his rude fucking arse he nearly became one with his crank display
. my missus had to drag me out the shop door .

Yes the specialist bike shop staff can be c*nts.My mate went in one and told him what he wanted and what his budget was(£500).The guy just laughed and said ,"I,m sorry sir i think your in the wrong shop".You can get a decent carrerra from halfords for around £300.Should do you for what you need.
Just to be a photo whore,here,s my cannondale lefty repainted FOCUS ST ORANGE.

i think a cheaper halfrauds bike would be fine for your use mate
a flat bared non suspension is what you want imo
i have a rather flashy kona, and tbh its alright for flat use but i find hills and off roading a challenge on it
big wheels are for big gays though, bmx's FTW

GT's dont seem a baddun, a few guys round here have em.
Might look to change mine later in the year.

The do look smart them Boardman bikes and they seem to my untrained eye to have a semi decent spec, but ive never seen anybody out and about on 1 to ask them whether they are good or shite.
Some halfords bargains...
Might still be on offer..

ive got a kona mate and it just doesnt seem 100% (took me a lot of playing with to get right) - but i think thats because i brought it from jejames's, a bloody rubbish shop if your young imo
the bloke didnt beleive what size chain had on a bmx and are just generally unhelpful.
back to the bike - it has hydralic brakes which theyd spilt fluid from and damaged the lever, the back brake was absolute boloocks and they had to change it, didnt tell me how to pump up forks (its easy i know but really wasnt helpful when i was spending 500+ on a bike) and the front pads wore out within a month because they were fitted wrong
find a bike shop you like or get on with a person in and you wil get a better bike imo
