Focus RS Loom running a Duratec-HE??
As per title - I'm just after any constructive advice/opinions on this please?
Basically I have a Ford Fiesta MK3 RST which I have been building for the last 2 years. The engine is a Ford Duratec 2.3-HE (bigger brother of the engine found in the Fiesta ST) and has been modified to be turbocharged. Brief spec as follows:
9:1 Compression
Forged Pistons/Rods
ARP fasteners throughout
Cosworth Bearings throughout
Standard Head/Cams
Garrett GT28R on Pumaspeed Manifold
Siemens 630cc injectors
Custom alloy inlet plenum (63mm TB)
Focus RS Gearbox/Diff
I'm using a Focus RS instrument cluster in the car and am also using the ECU/partial loom from a Focus RS to drive the dials from the various sensors (crank, VSS, Cyl Head Temp, Focus RS MAP sensor etc). I am also using the twin cooling fan drivers from the ECU and the PATS system.
My thoughts on this are that this is a powerful ECU that has some useful features built into it already such as, drivers for the boost control solenoid, PWM idle. Compared with the Megasquirt V3 that I was planning to use, the FRS 104-pin EECV seems a more sophisticated ECU and perhaps it could be re-mapped to run my engine? - I've heard that MSD are very familiar with re-mapping these ECU's.
I'm on a tight budget right now and am not after massive power.
Any constructive thoughts on this much appreciated.
Jim.
