Just thought I'd ask as I play guitar and dabble in bass and drums (really bad at drums!!) but I wanna learn to play the keyboard/piano. Me and a mate are starting a band in the summer and I'd really like to learn for the extra songwriting options and for the fun of it so can anyone recommend a keyboard I could browse ebay for under a ton or so?
And any helpful books or sites to learn with.
Cheers guys and gals

It depends what you want from a synth/keyboard entirely. a DX7(2) is still one of the best around for the money. My favourite is my Roland RS/9 , best of both worlds, unfortunately you're talking 400 quid. If you want to perform with it though, it's great. Very configurable, 64 polyphonic, and the sounds are superb, weight next to nothing as well.

Not really looking to perform with one as it stands. Just wanna learn piano playing to be honest and see how I go. Wanna use it when writing acoustic stuff and the like. We're putting together a punk style band but i hvae a real penchant for writing acoustic stuff.
There's not a lot for under a hundred quid that's going to give you anything that's worthwhile as a standalone. The higher newer Yamaha series maybe, but they've got to be high to be worthwhile.
