Default How deep in are you!

last night i went and started up my rst, first time in three months(in storage for winter)- it started at first time of asking and ran great while it warmed up.
all this cold weather and the old girl still springs into life no problem.
I've been thinking about selling up, moving on etc to something i can use more often but tbh i'm not finished with it yet and have alot more plans to do before i sell up or move on.
I've spent plenty already but just wouldn't get a decent amount of money back for the effort/knowledge thats gone into getting it where it is.
anybody else in a similar situation? couldn't sell it even if they should really

Mine owes me around 5G and if I broke it i'd make back about 4G so not too bad really! I addded it all up when my head dropped a valve seat a few months back and I thought about throwing in the towel!

got rid of the 3i rst cab and lost nothing, but my mk2 fiesta xr2 zvh owes me way too much to recoup, i rekon i'm about 6k in that, 2.5k in the last year alone.
that's parts and not time.
not a lot of money, but i bought the car for £520 six years back.

I got all my cars very cheap so I guess I would actually earn money if I sold them now. But I love them too much.

Just been up tidying my barn and thinking how much money and time I've put into it is stupid really. I couldn't sell it yet though, havent had it on the road enough to enjoy it. Just hope I don't have to sell it when I join the army. I'd be gutted.

My old RS owes me £25000 (yes that really is 25K)...and its now on bricks on the drive, nearly stripped and heading to the scrapyard! Had it on the road for 2 years...then spent the next 2 off the road. Finally gave in and brought another shell.

had my s1 for 9 year now and it owes me quite close to 20k i reckon..this includes buying the car and recently restoring it..i should sell it as i barely drive it..about 50 miles last year..i would be gutted seeing someone else drive it away though

S2 before last was the one I spent big on. Car cost £2700, spent easily £1500 running and modding it for 18 months then started stocking up parts for a big power engine and mega spec, so took it off the road.

£6.5k later I went to town on the shell as I wanted a weld-in cage....and I found the rot . I'd been without anything quick for too long by then and was a stupid young prick So sold up the lot and bought a 'ready built' S2 zvh for £3.5k (blew gearbox within 3 months lol) and made another £8k from selling off the parts and braking the rotter.

No financial harm done but always regret not finishing it, literally had everything to bolt onto a shell, just got sick of the wait.

i was in a similar situation just under a month ago, came into a problem with my turbo'd cab and was debating weather or not to strip it, its worth a lot more in bits than it is complete, and its a half decent spec car for what it owe's me which is about 3k at the moment, but i cant justify stripping it due to the time thats gone into it and how little use i'v had out of it.

Exactly the same position Chris......as you know i've spent a few quid and would quite like to get rid in a way but just can't bring myself to do it, and still got plans i'd like to see through! You know you'll lose a load of money when you finally sell but it's just heartbreaking ain't it

blimey some people have spent some money on there rsts
and theres me worried about losing a few thousand.
every time i drive or start it up i know i couldn't let someone else drive it away cus of the little bits i've added in the years of ownership, not of huge expense or that apparent to anybody but myself lol

edit- is your on the road yet dave? i assume its ran in now just awaiting re-mapping or something? see wot it can do now the bottom end is stronger.

I've prob spent around errrr.......8.5K on mine since i got it 5years ago, fully restored this year. DID have it up for sale, but I saw sense and put it into storage! Going to rebuild the engine (once its got a new engine and box i'd hope it's worth 5K, maybe a bit more?? so not too much of a loss if it ever came to it, you cant take it as a loss if you enjoy it imo), got a new gearbox for it, still buy bits and bobs for it here and there even tho i've got a 200sx I recently bought for some fun.....ah it's never ending but I dont think I could ever sell it now, my first car, spend soo much time, blood sweat and almost tears on the fecker it's a part of me!

Well I havent added up what Ive spent, but the engine alone cost more than a decent Saph Cossie taxi!! And you know what,I don't give a fcuk, cause no one expects a poxy Mk 4 Escort to pass them on a trackday, thats what give's me the buzz.Sure I could get a evo/scooby or whatever, but then its too easy to lap quickly, plus its no big deal,as every evo laps quick!!On the plus side, cause my escort is light, its easy on tyres/brakes/petrol,so the actual running costs ain't too bad.If you want to make money on the sale off a car,the best way is not to buy the car in the 1st place.Regards,Micky

Yeah ran it in back in september lol, it's under its cover in the garage for the winter at the moment so yeah just an oil change, few bits and then get it mapped again! Hopng to be doing the first trackday at the end of february so better drag it out shortly and get it ready

Well i bought my escort van for £500 7 years ago have spent around 7k on it it think and there is still so much i would love to do to it. There's been a lot of times in the past that ive thought of selling it and even now im kind of tempted but i just wouldn't be happy knowing i have blown a load of money, time and effort for nothing. 7 years and its still not running!!!
