Default Any Rover Mechs ?

My brother in laws Rover 75 has gone up the wall and wondered if anyone on here will know the problem.

Basically it's only a weekend car, serviced every year, today he went shopping came home parked up for about half hour, went to start it and nothing, he says the Inspection light is on the dash but the car just turns over.

Anyone any ideas?

Thanks

Standard feature on some diesels, some have THREE fuel pumps, any one can pack up.
They also suffer a hole host of other problems.
My mate richard does nothing but rovers, so he might be able to help, 01953 458000

Can be the battery, a friend's clio would just turn over and not fire. Stick a set of jump leads on it and it would go first turn of the key. It was turnign over but just not quickly enough to get it to go. New battery and it was fine!

a weak battery can seem like it's turning over if it's got an inertia starter motor, the motor turns but does not have enough speed to throw the gear onto the flywheel and turn the engine over

Rover 75's won't turn over at all once the battery drops too low, the solenoid clicks repeatedly and the headlamps flash.

Strange as i was there yesterday, turnt over albeit a bit slow, but wouldn;t start, he put his multimeter on batt today and got a reading of just over 10v, so he asked if i would jump him, left jump leads on for 5 mins and she fired straight up
