Can anyone recomend what brand to use? I am in cumbria, is there anywhere in the north offering this type of service?
Also how much should I be looking to pay?
Cheers.

Do they still offer the plug and play kit? I read somewhere that once the cars were out of their warrenty customers no longer wanted the option of removing the map and were after conventional chips. I was just wondering what was available and what prices were.
Im sure somone told me you can just have a bluefin re-map as opposed to the plug and play unit.????

I have Bluefin, it gave me 4bhp and 2ft.lbs of torque from 4000rpm upwards. Very basic and generic maps that don't give a lot of improvement. Dreamscience is much more specific, offers 5 maps for the ST170 and more, and can also be custom mapped to your vehicle. All in all a much more suited and accurate map and with more features than Bluefin too.
for n/a 's bluefin comes in around Ł234 and DS is about double.
superchips have a ford warranty agreement and im sure there 'play it safe' maps illustrate this whereas other mappers arent obliged to keep things in a super over safe area and able to exploit a cars performance a little more.
plug and play is very hit and miss.for some it will tick all the boxes but for others?? well.
its such a variable thing its no big surprise.
i went for a bluefin and it has given a little more grunt in the first 2 gears and it now drives like silk seemlessly thru to the top end.i have no doubt it hasnt added break neck BHP but it did what i asked it to,it made the car drive better.
if you want your monies worth in terms of spending 'dreamscience kinda cash',then i would bypass handhelds altogether and go there in person.get it mapped on the roll rather than give Ł500 for a plastic module and guess.
i went down the bluefin road and paid half that, but it cant be emphasised enough, plug and play can be vague lol

I had a remap on my last st170, I fitted a fuull janspeed exhaust, pipercross vbiper and bluefin all in the same day, the biggest gain was from the exhaust and filter.... then 4 months later had a custom remap at performance 3000 aned it was like a different car, smoother, better throttle response and pulled alot better lower down

The hesitation you talk about turned out to be a faulty Plug Lead and the coil pack on its way out on my car.
Cost me Ł65 pattern parts to sort it and that was late on a sunday afternoon out of desperation.
I have heard of this slight miss - why not give the ignition system a once over - plugs/leads/coil pack - less than Ł70 quid if you shop around and easy hours job.
