For light home use yer. Cheap and good warranty from B&Q. Just keep taking it back every 11 months.

There are others much better though, if you want propper gear. Like Kranzle.

Prepare to spend a bit more and get less 'features' though. The actual machines are incredible, and CYC do fittings to use foam lance etc. Although most Kranzle machines can do high pressure chemical mixing so no need to swap lance ends etc. Unless you want to longer dwell time of thicker foam.

 

Just to wash the car at weekends.

I used to have the CYC one but it fell to bits on me so replaced with the PB one and has been faultless.
Also the Polished Bliss one uses a plastic connector for the Karcher which is a much better fit as i had to file the brass one from CYC to get it to fit.

For pressure washer i have a Karcher 500 i think it is, wasn't cheap but its only just starting to show its age after 7yrs and it used alot for all sorts from washing cars, vans, a few small trucks and have done the patio and drive way a few times which will be at least 7hrs continues use in one go at a time.

 

Haven't used that one as i have the CYC one. Been trouble free for a year. Use it while valeting sales cars so gets used at least 3 times a week every week.

I got the brass fitting with mine, didnt fit so i rang Tim @ CYC that morning and he has an alternative to send out free, some karchers have different size lance.

Got new karcher and just swapped back to brass fitting cause it leaked with plastic one.

 

If like me you a Karcher then this will do the job without spending a fortune

I believe the foam won't be as thick or good with that one. Plus the others are adjustable so can use strong mix then turn it down so it lasts longer. either way i'd get a 1litre bottle instead of the small ones they come with.

 

Yeah i'd be going for the litre one.

Looking on the CYC site the lance they have now is different to the old one i had so maybe others had the same problem as me and they updated it.

 

im a valeter and car washer, we got a mega karcher but it cost thousands and that goes wrong regulaly.

we also got two home made ones which cost around 800 each and they break too.

like has been said buy a cheap karcher with warrenty and take it back 11mths on cos there not very well made, everyone ive spoken to has gone wrong...

My cleaning company replaced our old warick machine just cause it was old and tired , we bought a new karcher hds 501 , what a pile of junk , we have had them out repairing it 4 times in the first year and twice in the second year , its been nothing but bother and I wish we had just stuck with the old machine.

I would not buy another karcher machine now

 

people have there own opinion about karcher,i went for karcher because it was on spacial at the time,ive owned it for just over a year now and and use it most weekends,either cleaning the car,van or the r1 and ive had no problems with it,go for what you can afford mate,if your useing it just to wash the cossy on a weekend in my opinion you cant go wrong with a karcher.

 

Ive had loads of different machines when i was a mobile valeter

All shite and unreliable apart from my last petrol one

Cheap petrol ones just fuck up and the pumps always pack in no matter what

Honda Cobra 160, i then built a custom twin lance for soap and pressure with side ajuster and was the best i ever had, wish i never sold it now tbh

Karcher seem very cheaply made compared to many years ago

Buy a cheapy and replace it every year kev if need be

 

I use meguiars hyperwash for foam. 4-5 squirts in the 1 litre bottle on the lance the fill with HOT water.

Find it better to hose car down first too...

 

2 at once but foam a little on the thin side or had been on for a bit, can't rem.

I can say in my experience using hot or cold water hasn't made a single difference to the foam or how it foams up/clings. And i've tried Meg's, Cheaper stuff and Valet Pro PH Neutral.

I wouldn't rinse the car first either, as this will dilute the foam and make it slide off easier and quicker, the idea of foam is it stays on for as long as possible to soak and lift the dirt away.

Unless ofcourse you have half inch of mud up side of your car, probably better to blast the bottom half then...

i also dont see the point in topping up the lance with hot water as your using cold water through your pressure washer.everyone has there own opinion on how to wash there car,if you ask 100 people your sure to get 100 different answers.

Ive got an old old kartcher my parents bought years ago and its still goin!! came with the foam bottle too so may have to invest in some decent cleaning foams
