wouldnt have thought the fact its rwd matters at all, with it being what it is you may also qualify for classic insurance so could be quite cheap. i suggest you invest in some kind of security though as A - it will keep your insurance company happy and B- it will mean its harder for people to try and steal s these are sought after cars for parts etc etc

classic insurance is normally for over 25year olds i think? just ring and get quotes as said above,i think you should be able to insure one,a lad i used to know had one insured at 18 but it was a few years ago.

Unless you already own one the cost of a good mk1 or 2 escort might be the stumbling block

I got quoted about the same as my fiesta for a 1975 1300gt mk2 escort. But they seem quite rare, and the ones about are quite pricey.

you can try classic insurance your car may well qualify for it you dont lose anything for trying

I had my old mk2 escort insured as a classic with Footman James when i was 19, that was 5 years ago.
It was insured as a 1.1 pop limited to 5k a year and it was £241!
