Default Help me value an Escort RS turbo please *More Pics Added*

I'm looking to buy an Escort from a friend of a friend and would like some help making sure I don't pay too much as I'm not too sure how Rs's hold their value

Car details;

The car is on a D plate and looks in good condition, looks like its had a decent amount of body work done hardly any signs of rust.

Engine has had some work the car seem fairly quick atleast 200+ was wheel spinning in 5th (damp conditions bald tyres)
It has a diesel gear box so no LSD

its got a Viper cat 1 alarm (the one that pages you if its broken in to)

Interior is standard in decent condition as are the wheels.

Bad points which hopefully I can get him down on;
needs two new front tyres
petrol cap is opened with a flat blade screwdriver lol
front light lens cracked needs replacing
I think it needs a new map sensor (apparently the boost switch sometimes doesnt work this looks like a wire leading to a map sensor, I could be wrong)
Bonnet catch needs replacing

He's looking for £2200

Do you think this is reasonable

Any help appreciated Thanks Rob.

If its in good all round condition its worth the price i think, long as its solid.Personally though id go for a later car.Either a G or H plate as its a very early one.

well if engine has had work

and car has been 90 spec'd anyway then its not exactly an early one lol it was just registered that way lol

and it seems a reasonable price if like said its in reasonable condition etc

also like said if its a freind or friend of friend then around the 1900 and you fix faults or 2200 and he fixes them lol

looks clean and 90's spec'd so if it is running ok but a few niggles, then 2k would be a decent buy imo.

Cheers,

would need different turbo and intercooler to do 250-300bhp ... if its running standard intercooler then your act will be stupidly high and retard ignition... with a possibility of other issues...
why rebored engine?? just wondering ...would suggest getting some more information about parts fitted and post em up here so we can advise you more...
if your worried about anything on the car get someone to look at it before you part with any cash ...

I doubted the power figure tbh. In the advert it says stage 2 turbo. what do these usually make?

I'm going to view it again shortly so will take loads of pics engine bay underside.

Thanks Rob.

from the photos looks pretty robust, how is the roof and the battery tray/fusebox......also the boot floors are prone to rust though under the spare wheel

How many miles, and does it have history/reciepts. He has been running it on a budget if the tyres are bald and no lsd. If he has reciepts for service items, setup's etc then I take that back.

Show him the colour of your money, im sure he will consider it. if he knows your serious, got the money, but are willing to walk away if you dont get it for the price you want to pay, and you dont make a pisstake offer, im sure you will get it for less than £2k. its the festive period, people dont have a lot a money, so its not like he will be tripping over people wanting to buy it.
