Default Escort Cosworth in a local road rally (pic)

Just been sent this old picture of a mate of mine ('pricey' for people like mark turbo on here who know him) in a local road rally in his old escort cosworth "K11 COS"

A ford in a ford, how appropriate!

That picture made the front page of motoring news a few years ago when it was taken, typical pricey "maximum attack" mode to nick a well known phrase from the world of rallying. everyone else was crawling through that section at about 20mph due to the hazard, pricey came round the corner crossed up fully committed and hit it flat out as per usual, photographer got drenched apparently, but managed to fire this picture off as it happened!

I think it was one of the ones where it flashes a couple of times, so they didnt have a fucking clue where they were headed at the split second the picture was taken, LOL

Default k11 cos

my old car ,was abit over the top for road rallys, running 400bhp would only do 80 miles to the fuel hault on a full tank ! think most of it came out the exhust as 4foot flames ,good for the spectaters, always launched it at 7000rpm away from every control as the marshalls wanted to see it go lol

IF you catch him on a good day yeah, although last time I saw him he'd gone jap with an RS model Evo, I had a passenger ride off him about 10 years ago in a mk2 escort he had though, fucking hell, its certainly something you tend to remember, needed wipers on the door glass to see where you were going not the windscreen, lol

He came round my house once with the guy who's in the passenger seat there in that picture, to drop some stuff off for an engine rebuild I was doing, and as he was driving up the road my next door neighbour who was the local traffic inspector came out and said "was that jason price's escort cosworth I just saw leaving"
Me: "Err yeah, do you know him?"
Him: "Yes, we know him alright, he can properly drive that thing, we'd never catch him thats for sure" and then walks back in the house

Thats a very good mate of mine, he's same age as me (34) and is 6'5, ive utterly no idea why he looks like a small lost boy in that picture though, it was only about 5 years ago so he was probably about 30 at the time

He's another local lunatic, but is a paramedic driver and emergency responder, the other day he was on the way to a job in his Leon Cupra R and it was down one of the roads he knows well from doing road rallies down them, Marked Cop 535 was on the way there, 80mph down a small straight on a local B road with the blues and two going, and Simon flew past him at 130mph in his private car, bet that surprised him, you dont exactly expect to get overtaken at that speed when you are in an area police car fully marked up with the lights going

The other day he took a speedbump so fast in the ambulance it put both the struts through the bonnet too.

They are a pretty competitive team down here in most of the local motorsport, although even Simon will admit its pricey (the fat cunt in the escort, lol) who has the real talent. Simon's learnt to drive pretty quickly, much like most of us have to do, but to Pricey it just came naturally, even at 18 he was stupidly fast in anything you put him in, I saw one of the lads down here who had a very nice prodrive prepared subaru back when they were new get out of his own passenger seat white with fear when he offered pricey a chance to drive it, he genuinely had no idea what his own car was capable of until that moment he got back from him driving it I dont think

when we used to go speccying you would see escort cosworths go through the water splashes and see a double funnel of cut steam through the bonnet vents ,its very hard to explain but if you saw it you would know what i mean. one of them unusual moments most people have never seen

LOL!

Money well spent, I think I'd still pay a tenner for one of those passenger rides now if you ever start doing it again, lol

What you competing in these days? Or are you soon grown up you dont have a rally car anymore?

Fucking hell, ive just realised you are right, it was my old valver on throttle bodies Simon was dropping bits off for when you came to visit me in that escos, and I got rid of that nova 7 or 8 years ago so must have been before that.
Wow, time flies, seems like only yesterday!

Fair play, definately put me down for a few of those "10 miles of tight b road in 6 mins or less" passenger rides when you get it

i can remember doing a road rally in your green saph, and when we pulled up at a checkpoint it was on fire, but you were more worried about getting the timecard signed than having the fire put out, i seem to remember we drove on for a few more miles before it got so bad we had to retire!

i can also remember your second white saph going sideways at about 140 when it spluttered as the fuel surged!

The midrange torque is certainly great when you are going into bends you dont know about as if you do have to slow down a bit more than you are expecting you still have something to haul you out the other side with.
Big difference between lanes and a racetrack that, not knowing whats coming next!

Pricey is a bit of a legend round here thats for sure.

He took Tom out in the evo and gave him whiplash Tom had to have a week off work.

Never did go in that car for some reason.
