Default Great deal on Halfords tools at the moment

They have a few good deals at the moment, a set of combi ratchet spanners are down from £70 to £25, and the little 1/4" drive socket set it £15 reduced from £35..... I went in yesterday to buy a £6 bottle of anti-mist, and ended up spending £100 on tools as well

lots of other kits have loads off as well, going to stock up when I get paid!

DONT use your trade card with any of the deals above!

If you do, you could end up paying more money as a result.

If an item is 70 quid retail and 50 quid trade, and they reduce the retail price to 30 quid, the trade price is still set at 50 quid, as the two are seperate price lists within their store computer.

trade cards are good on normal price but u dont get much knocked off the price if its in the sale!!!

They do have good deals on thou will pop in and see, the combi racket spanner set sounds good!!

The other half got me their industrial bottom roller cab last year which came with about £200 worth of tools!! tray of 3/8" and 1/4" sockets and a spanner set and screwdriver set!!

They had the top cab for £150 till recently was gonna buy it but its now on offer as buy the bottom and get the top cab free doh

Sometimes the price goes UP from the retail sale price I have found, I queried this with the manager, and hence now know about the fact that sale prices are only applied to the retail price list and dont effect the trade price list, as I mentioned above.

ah right cool, i posted just before you wrote that lol, been in a few times and they always say they dont apply a disc on sale stuff so never bothered.

Went to buy their super bright bulbs and they were buy1 get 1 free for £20, worked out with the trade card as the BOGOF didnt work it would cost more than the offer price as chip said!

if you go upto the parts desk they'll normally scan it for u with ur card to see if its cheaper or not best to do it there rather than a main till! bit of a pain in the arse but its the only way to find out how much of a discount you'll get!

Just bought a 55 piece toolkit.
http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/s...dkey=ClickInfo

110 quid retail
50 quid in sale
I handed over my trade card and asked how much, 87 quid, so I bought it retail.

So definately you need to be careful when you buy things trade or not!

The basic rule is use the trade card on full price stuff, pay sale price on the offers. I bought a set of wipers for £8 with the trade card yesterday, were £18.99 retail

They changed it very slightly when it went from the "professional" set to the "advanced professional" set, its laid out slightly different, but its more or less the same contents
Only slightly annoying thing is that a lot more of the sockets are now 3/8" instead of 1/2"

My mate has a lot of snap-on stuff but he's a professional mechanic and I can't justify the expense for a bit of DIY.

He has a tray in his drawer that holds his sockets on spikes with the sizes marked on the top of each - anyone know what these are called or whether anyone else makes/sells them at non-snap-on prices?

LOL, just looked on ebay, and loads of people selling "unwanted gift" socket sets at a little over half retail price:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/halfords-profe...item35a5f757dc

22 quid plus postage instead of 35 quid retail, bargain!
Well it would be if it wasnt 15 quid in the sale at the moment

Oh, I need to find someone local to me with a halfords trade card now!

If they bought it, for me, using their trade card would there be any problems caused if I returned the set if something broke to get it replaced under the guarantee?

Shouldnt be, I've never been asked for a receipt anyway when ive had tools replaced by them when Ive broken them through misuse, i mean when they have failed under guarentee

you really have to be a fecking animal to break anything other than the rathet mechanisms TBH, and those arent covered anyway, so if you just use them normally, it wont be an issue.

You mean these? CLICKY

I use these at work in my box for all my sockets (1/2", 1/4" and 3/8"). Be warned though, you will be hard pushed to find a set of 1/4" drive sockets where they all fit over the peg. According to our Snap on man its a common problem. My Sockets are signet and snap on. The signet one needed 'persuaded' to slide all the way down the peg.

Perfect. Thanks for the link.
He has 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 drive racks but I don't have many 1/4 drive sockets anyway so I'm sorted!

i recently bought a halfords industrial top chest, reducued from £229 to £150 plus another 10% off when i ordered online, got to the shop and they all had some damage of some kind, found the one with least damage which is not noticble unless u look underneath and it doent affect the drawers and got another £20 off so got it for £110 oh and they said the 5 sockets worth £25 i was also buying i could have free

was going to go buy the industrial 6 drawer bottom chest for £229 on boxing day but they have put the prices back up to £299 for it

really, thats worth knowing, mate of mine wanted one and I told him to wait as it often goes to £99, but I can just get it on my card for him then. I am half tempted to get one for when I go to work on other peoples cars, or to the scrappy.

Don't worry it will be £100 at Easter, that's when I bought one, 2 years ago, after missing the Xmas deal.
And it was an extra 5% discount if ordered online for store pickup. So only £95
