Default cutting rear sierra springs

i was thinking of cutting the rear springs on my xr4x4 just to make it level with the front as the backend looks to high and i think it looks crap like that so was thinking of cutting just the one ring of each side ive been told this is not a problem if i had the money i would just buy some springs but i dont so this seams the cheaper option me thinks what do you guys think

The xr's do sit higher at the rear generally speaking but ford did fit lots of different springs to these over the years so I would look for some lower ones at a breakers first. personally I would never cut springs but I do know people that have
