My father in law has just bought a New Focus Studio estate 1.6 diesel. but reading the handbook that came with the car it says "Crank the engine when the Glowplug symbol goes out" Well we have looked at every symbol on the dash and none of them resemble the symbol in the handbook. The car starts first time and I know from other cars I've owned the Glowplug is not really required unless the temp is below -5 etc. Therefore have Ford cut back and not provided a symbol? does anyone have a picture or schematic of where the symbol should be on the dash?

on a car i let the glow plug go out twice to be safe and my works van i just crank it over what year is the focus.i did a clutch on an 02 focus and that had a glow plug light

 

Its brand new on a 59 plate

 

if its not there then dont worry new diesal engines are far more advanced.if it needed one im sure ford would have thought about it

 

Thats the problem its shown in the Owners Handbook so I assume Ford is still using it. They sometimes use the Symbol to indicate other problems. I could do with a schematic diagram as to where it should be located on the dash.

 

please do but your 59 plate model has been round a few yrs now so it could relate to other diesels models.i had a similar problem on my focus with a maf.everyone says my car has a maf but mine doesnt and a few others dont as well.but i would like to see the diagram
