Default ST170 Engin light on

ST170 - How do I switch off the engin light if I remove the catalytic convertor? (make it blind to the Engin Management System) I was led to believe that the Cat only lasts 160 000km, My ST has done 295 000 to date.

Any knowledge on how to "lie" to the ECU to make the light go away? If I can locate the spec for the ranges for the ECU input - I can rig up a resister that would do the trick.
