traction control in any car on snow and ice is pointless.

Not always

A lot of car's brake the wheel that spinning only, this means it puts power to the wheel with the least grip. Essentialy an electronic LSD.

my st170s traction control is actually more dangerous on rather than off in the ice, i pulled away on sheet ice and all it did was splutter about and juddered, turned it off, had a little wheel spin then went fine, also coming round a roundabout with it on and started to slide a bit traction control is to harsh that it unsettles the cars stability and made the slide worse, few hours later same roundabout but with tc of went round a lil slide, just gave it more throttle and it pulled round smoothly.....I dont like electronic driving aids and the day i rely on them is the day i give up driving, same with parking sensors, on my old 170 i removed the speaker so i did not have to hear the bloody things

Not even driven one yet lol.

Mind you I can't say I'm a big fan of driver aids. I'm doing the driving and in control not a box of electrical witchcraft.
