I think my bonnet cable may have snapped or detached from the catch as I cannot get it open.

Is there any way that I can get into it (... to get my power steering pump fixed!!) without having to 'pop' the catch as it will cost a fortune for a new one with it being electronic!!

The last time I had to buy one it cost £50!!!

get a hanger jack the car up and try to pry it open from the underneath/inside the engine bay...it'll take ages but once u know where to do it from it'll open up.. same thing happend to me with my escort and it worked a treat.

 

thats why im fitting bonnet pins for next year bonnet catches on fords are shite

Is there any resistance when you pull the lever? If there is it may just be a sticky catch, and if you get someone to pull the lever while you're pushing and pulling on the bonnet it should pop up.

 

what year is it?
if its a mk5 im sure u can rip the grill off to get to the latch
