Default Tony Butcher -Rapid Racing Developments... help

After seeing an ad on ebay and a pretty flash website. http://www.rapid-racing-developments.com/ I contacted the company Rapid Racing Development or RRD

Anyways, I recieved a quick response from a guy named Tony Butcher where he told me he could make some carbon pre preg a-pillars for my sierra. He would answer my emails almost straight away and never more than a day response time.

One thing that I did find suspicious is that he did not want to be paid with Paypal through ebay. I assumed it was because it was that he did not want to pay ebay fees, but with everyday I now suspect that its a way to avoid refunds/investigations.

Anyways, against my better judgement, I paid him £140+£35postage via Paypal on the 28 Oct 09...

Since then I have emailed him 5 times since and he's responded only twice. He said that he had a family emergency but would be back on the job the next day or so. That was 2 weeks ago.. I HAVE NOT HEARD FROM HIM SINCE...

Anyways, a search on passionford revealed that he has the username: 'sortedsaff'.

I have sent emails and even tried calling him twice today.

Anyways, does anyone know of Tony? I do have a sinking feeling...

by some AMAZING coincidence he has responded. Aparently he had issues with internet...

Anyways he tells me they are ready to be sent this week. Call me a cynic but I can see the next excuse as being they were sent and they will get lost in the mail...

I will ask for tracking/consignment numbers but Im thinking they will be false or some amazing act of god will intervene and i wont be getting these goods...

Will keep everyone posted..

Vic,
If it helps, get him to send them direct to me by special delivery and do a partial refund on paypal for the difference, I can then send them with the outstanding items that are going via Franco for Lincoln and Gavan?

I know where he is trading from plus have all his house details, plus loads more if it becomes necessary, wouldn't like to say if it will be, as don't know him personally.

tabetha, as always, thanks for your support.

Latest:

tried calling another few more times.. phone rings... no answer..

its not like Im calling at odd hours either. 9.30pm-11.45pm my time which is around midday to afternoon your time.

His email a few days ago he claimed that he had internet problems.. the thing is he has a "@live" internet address, so assume that you can remotely check your email via phone/friend or family computer or even an internet cafe...

oh and his Paypal address is badboymbh@hotmail.co.uk err trust me to use a boy racer...

oh yeah, he also said he would send pics of the carbon pillars during the build.. funny that no pics have been sent during whole time...

yep.. things not looking good.. no response after sending 3 emails since Wednesday.

Linc.. yep, serves me right for jumping in the deep end, not really checking the dudes credentials and going ahead with the transaction. Amazing what a flash website and prompt emails do prior to the transaction... until after almost nothing heard..

Ed_van_dijk:
do you speak to him face to face?

grrrrr

ok.. finally got a response from tony after i emailed him and demanded:
1) pics of the work done (which he promised since the beginning)
2) delivery to be sent via a well known courier with tracking number
3) if this was too hard for him, then send the part to Mike Rainbird...

Last night I drew the final straw and either demanded the above or REFUND me.

This morning I got a response. Said he had family issues and internet issues. He claims that he was GOING to send them this morning, BUT due to this posting on Passionford, he has decided to refund me.

I know Tony that you will be reading this, and I do sincerely apologize if the family issues are true. Its just that that excuse has been used many times with me and my mates its become quite a fashionable statement amoung the fraudsters. At the end of the day contrary to past behaviour, you have 'manned up' and refunded me. I really do thank you for that.

Thanks for your support Passionford guys, its forums like this that help us, especially us guys overseas.

lol! If he had gone to the effort to make them... He would not have refunded you. Why would he put himself out of pocket buying stuff and investing time into it only to refund you?

Sounds like he's been stringing you along proper!

He was on another forum I use at one point, but since the thing with Matt Baxter he seems to have disappeared. Used to see him about a bit but not seen him in a long time now!
