Very strange electrical prob? S2.
Ok will try to explain this as best as possible.
most days the car starts first time and runs perfectly (if there is such a thing for an RST
)
then on some days......
1) car won't turn over, all i can say is symptoms of a dead battery, lights on the dash go very dim and the starter motor makes that "wer wer" noise.
2) Now i have changed the battery which seemed to cure it for 2 months. but it's started playing up again. The other day Kim was driving along doing about 30-35mph when the car missfired a few times, cut out and then acted like a flat battery. Bump started the car and it was fine for the rest of the day.
It has since done no 1) again. I have put a volt meter on the battery and get the following results.
Igniton off = 12.3V
Igniton on = 12.2V
Car running = 13.9 - 14.2 v
So i presume the alternatior is fine?
anyone got any ideas? it's really fucking me off now, just fixed the fuel leak we had, turns out the tank had a hairline crack. New tank fixed the problem
.
Would just like this problem fixed so i can fit Kim's speakers she got for xmas. No interior lights are left on etc.
any help would be great
Cheers

Id say a very bad chassis earth mate ,
ive lost count of the amount of cars i have found this on ,
Usually after a rebuild or resto where the cables havnt been put on properly / tightly
Id say yours have a bit of corrosion on them
its also well worth checking the main red cable as twin 45's said .
good luck ,
Ps if it behaves similarly if you put the lights on or load the battery id deffo say this was the problem .

ok...couldnt find any problems with the earth.
cleaned all the connectors in and to the dizzy.
Tightened the alternator belt
the starter moter cables look a bit corroded so will see how it goes this week and if it hasn't cured it, then will take the starter motor off.
keeping my fingers crossed.
