Default 1991 Ford Scorpio 2,0i CL -> 2,9i 24v Ghia Cosworth

My Ford Scorpio project

I bought this Scorpio couple of months ago, my plan was just to keep it as my every day runner , and not put so much work in it..... but that failed

I did not pay so much for it , it was a real bargain
My plan is to fully rebuild it to a 2,9 24v Ghia cosworth and make it a minter someday

REALLY nice work!

I want to do that to my scorpio 24V too. Where did you get the spare parts from? Im from germany, here you can't even buy a gasget for the scorpio, there are no more parts available at ford. Is this better in Norway? Where did you get the gasgets for the valve cover?

What Paint did you use for the underbody? Something special protecting for rust?

Sorry for my bad english

Greeting,
vuli

Greeting,
vuli
I bought most of the parts from my local Ford Dealer. The engine gaskets i bought on ebay from UK.Its not easy to get parts here in norway, but something is still possible to get hold on from the main storage in sweden or from cologne in Germany. Those parts i painted under the car i used 2k EP primer and 2k car paint.

Just search for vectra 2,5 injectors on ebay UK and you will find them, I havent noticed much yet but im only using stock exhaust at the moment and stock airfilter. Im going to swap exhaust and another airfilter in the spring, I think it will make more difference then

Update of what i have done over the last weeks

Fitted a New radiator with electric fans from the 95-98 Scorpio
Fittet a refurbished thermostat housing and a new thermostat.
Fittet a new Expansion tank with a new fluid level sensor
Also had the airfilter box holder painted
And Motomobil in Germany managed to source me one new towhook cover.
Had that painted and then fitted it.

right decision throwing out that viscous cooling fan. Can you tell me more about the wireing? I have the electrical fans of a Scorpio Mk2 1995 that i wanted to use but i am not clear about wireing it with the temperature sensor.

I would be glad about a quick wireing plan.

Thank you,
vuli

you need a termo fan switch, wire the fans permaenatly live, and earth them through the switch. put the switch in the top hose. Nice project, you have just reminded me that i need to do something with my cooling fan!

hello chaffe, thanks for your reply.

Which thermo fan switch do i need? i think it should switch at about 95 °C, so i picked out this one:

http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...m=380342147942

I planed to put it directly in the hose, i wanted to make a hole in it, put the thermo fan switch through the hole and fix it with a nut inside of the hose.

otherwise i would need a hosing out of metal for the switch like mr. scorpio used. which one would be that?

Thank you very much,
vuli

Is there no place in the radiator to fit it? You can buy a "T" peice from ebay to fit it into the top hose if not.
