Everytime i go into halfords i always wonder over to the bike section and have a look, whent in about an hour ago and they have this bike in store with a tag hanging off it saying 200 quid to clear, is it worth that as this is all i would spend of a raod bike since i know fuck all about them

I work in halfords, and would be the first to admit they sell some utter shit. But, for the money, the carreras are brilliant (aslong as u look afer them, just as with any bike )
If my store were doing them for 200notes, i'd have one...
(this is coming from the point of view of someone who has spend rediculous money on bikes!)

 

I had a Carrera Banshee MTB and its was a good bike for the money.

 

I mite buy it at the end of the month then and start using it to fly back and foward to college in the morning, never rid on the road mind you, been watching the new york bike messenger videos on youtube and it looks mega fun weaving in and out of traffic

i have got a shity mtb i got of a junkie for £6.50, he wanted £8 but held out and got it cheaper, will be able to fling that old shite to fuck

 

You get what you pay for....
but for 200 quid thats actually not too bad.

 

200 quid thats good value tbh. My missus rides a carrera roadie and loves it. my old man has a carrera frame on his training bike and likes it.
most alloy frames are made in the same factory on the lower end rides, you can always upgrade the equipment if you ever felt the need.

 

Looks like a decent bike, I've just bought myself a Dawes it's quite a nice bike

 

If you have to shop in Halfords for a bike the Boardmans are superb.

Just make sure you know what youre doing and build it yourself or get a local bikeshop to do it.

Mine was a deathtrap after they had 'built' it for me. Took me hours to sort it properly

 

Not all halfords are like this though...don;t taint all bike mechanics with the same brush
