Friends of mine have bothe so can't really get a good enough idea of what to buy, they all play online with them also.

I'm not a massive gamer and haven't purchased a console sinse my PS2 a few years ago.

I would basicly play games like Medal of honour and car games like Need for speed.

Like the idea of PS3 as have lots of PS2 games I think I could still play on it?

theres been a few debates recently. i just bought a 360elite last week after previously being in the playstation team and needed a new console within 24 hours....
it plays games and it does exactly what it says on tin. i just wanted one for general gameplay and not interested in the online or bluray stuff.
there does seem t0 be a better choice of xbox games.

 

My vote is the PS3, but then I would say that.

- if you want a decent machine that not just plays games and can afford it, get a PS3 mate

Wow, they have come down in price! Think mine was around the £400 mark but that's going back to release day.

Definately get a PS3 then if they are 250! Well worth it and a decision you will not regret.

 

Theres so many difference that you cant really say which of the two is better.

On a whole, the ps3 is a better console but xbox live is much better than the psn.

do what i did, buy both, then you dont have to make decisions.

I've got both, and still can't choose between the two.

PS3 is the superior machine, yet 360 has a better selection of games. Some games that are available on both consoles I prefer to play on the 360 because I think it suits the layout of the 360's controller better. Some games I prefer to play on the PS3 as I think they suit the layout of the PS3's controller better.

PSN is free, and the PS3 can be used interactively with PS. However XBOX Live is superior for general online gaming.

So, all things considered, I rate them about 50/50.

Slamz, mine is. Don't know if there are different versions of the 60gb machine, but all I know is mine is one of the very first.

 

You will not play PS2 games on the PS3, the quality is utter shite

 

There is no point going for backwards compatibility. No matter how much you convince yourself, you will not use it. If you gonna get a playstation, buy the smallest cheapest one you can find then upgrade the harddrive.

Also, as I said earlier, sony are working on an emulator that will come with a future update for the ps3 which will allow any make,model,size to play ps2 games. (waste of time imo)

allways been sony ps but ewhen 360 was out iys now 360 have a wii differeent league ps3 i dont know controlls are to small now and to lite but a great console i guess

Anyone who has a PS3 that isn't a 60gb....Don't worry Sony are gonna put all there top PS2 games on the PS Store to download like they did with the PS1 Games.....Lucky for me i have a 60 ha!

Ive had both, and the ps3 is good (blue ray) but i found mine was wanting to update software all the time (it was brand new) bought that little big planet and im not joking it was updating software for at leats 30 mins, now in my eyes that takes the p*ss, did it on quite a few other games as well so my choice would be xbox elite good deal on at argos i think 4 games two pads and elite console £197 BARGAIN lad

 

I have both but prefer the ps3 over the xbox360
