to be honest, with nothing coming the other way i just view it as up to him, and fair play to him for giving it a go, with all the road tax and petrol duty we pay i figure you need to get your moneys worth somehow, i suspect that opinion might be in the minority, but ive done some stupid things myself so i try not to judge others too much.

You using yellow road signs in Essex now?
As near the start the junction sign is yellow and black and the road edge line is yellow as well.
