Default Cosworth "Hesitation" on light throttle problem.....

Hi all, just wondered if anyone can help.

A mates saff has got a weird problem when your on very light throttle, like pulling away from stationary, or when, in say, 4th and 5th and your on trickling throttle in flowing traffic (like 40-50mph).

On boost, its fine, pulls lovely, no missfires, or anything. Same as when the car is on full load, i.e, say 5th car, 40mph, no boost, but foot is on the floor.

All the igntion system has been changed to a MSD stg3 chip, and MSD coilpack conversion, with new 071's gapped @ .6mm. The car did exactly the same problem on the old chip/ignition setup, so its not that.

put the car on my gunsen CO2 meter, and was originally running 12%, but got that down to 3% by adjusting the ECU. Havent checked fuel pressure yet, so need to buy a gauge.

any suggestions on what to try next?

Thanks!

i had a the exact problem you describe. Was a dodgy phase sensor connector inside the dizzy. Changed that and all was well.

I had that, well fairly similar, was a tps, missing a tiny spot, tested 100% perfect, could not find a low/missing resistance on it anywhere, but was there just above idle on throttle and low engine speed.
When I changed ecu's, the fault became massively amplified to the extent that it couldn't even be driven through in a higher gear on the rollers, so had to put on a universal one, then perfect.
I was stunned by the difference it made on the new ecu, the L6 coped much better no doubt by overfuelling all the time.

Boxxer,

It wasnt the pahse sensor itself, it was the bit where the phase sensor wires plug into that was the problem
