Default Mk4 Escort cab - with aircon???

Just seen this cab on e-bay, says it has factory fitted aircon. Surely thats an aftermarket fitment? If you zoom the interior pic you can see the controls and the air vent above the centre console.

Anyone got info on this kinda thing?

Im currently toying idea of fitting it to my 90spec 3i using combo of sierra pump to fit my cvh, and an aftermarket kit to control it.

Maybe fit a Mk5 heater/aircon unit in dash instead of mk4 stuff, as i see the blower unit still fits under the scuttle on mk5 like on the mk4's so in theory the unit shouldnt be TOO different.

no more than having your windows open at 30 and above due to drag tho

It's more fuel efficient to use aircon at speeds above 30 due to the drag caused by having windows open, as per Botters reply.

TBH it only uses a bit of power when it's charging the system so it only engages probably about half the time its switched on.

Thanks for info, will be giving Alpinair a ring and seeing if they can do owt these days for Mk4's.

Be quite nice to have air con for next summer if i end up keeping it long enough
