Default Aston Martin Owners Club - This bloke is a fruit cake!

I dont often frequent the AMOC, well as 95% are not owners!

Been on there doing some research, and last year when I did the engine rebuild went on there a fair bit.

There is a chap with user name- Uncle Bernie

give him his due he did give me some good advise on the engine rebuild but every and i mean every post of his crack me up.

His replies are more far out then any ive seen anywhere

example, Here is what I came across in researching what the DBS is worth and if its still a good investment:

My Dear Alec ,
You really must upgrade your tractor, Grey Fergies were cool in the 50s or even now for some folk but they should never ever be used as a yardstick any more than a Puss Moth or Tiger should ever be compaired to an F16/18 interceptor. Different creatures you know.
DB5s n Sixes are blokes chariots, thirty or forty pound pressuse needed to depress the clutch,(DB tractor heritage no doubt) but how good is that.
The Memsahib needed a new shopping chariot some years ago, Went with her as a bloke does to the dealers. She went for a poodle around the block in it came back beaming like a Smiley badge, Bloody Nora she likes it, I am in disguise well dark shades hat and long coat hiding in a corner.
Could have been a GM, Ford, or VW place I do not recollect however it was a place I did not want to be in , very naff.
However the Memsahib loved this thing, Give it a burn Uncle Bernie see what you think.
K , squidged my lank frame into this micro take a way device, Fired up the engine, depressed the clutch ,it flopped to the deck with about four ounces of pressure.
Turned of the engine marched back to the sales chap and Informed him that the clutch was stuffed.
No No No it cannot be, You bet your arse it is said I.
But no dear Alec that is the way of modern girls cars.
To easy to drive, but do what you have to do old chap
Alec old chap I do not intend to take the piss but being an old guesser ,I do from time to time.
Driving a true and good DB5/6 will blow your socks of,not many left you know.
Alec I do understand your Memsahibs reticence in jumping into a decrepit damp and tatty DB5/6 in perfidious Albion, However 5s and 6s do generally smell like new in Australia
Almost as cool as a Kubota Tractor with a huge bucket, Great for a case or two of plonk and a couple of good looking Sheila's ,life can be so pleasant in the lucky country.
God Bless you Alec , and Chaps,
Love you all
Uncle Bernie

Heres a few more

This is his take on a broken interior clock in a DB6

The clock in my DB6 is only correct twice a day - 11.45 in the morning and 11.45 in the evening.....
Oh Matt do not be such a plonker.
AM clocks ,well mine stopped thirty years ago. ,I think its kind of neat, forever locked at five to four just before Tea.
However you could fix it but why bother.
But what a chap does at 1145 am or 2345 hrs is almost beond me.

Pony tail and the glock not withstanding.

Drop the panel in the drives side (under dash) a few screws.
Withdraw the electrical connections , and push the clock out of the facia.
Easy.
But old chap for the sort of cash you are chuntering on about a chap can get a full on Rolex serviced,Wake up old chum, get a firm grip on your self

Old mate come up to my village some time , You would be welcome.

Best.
Uncle Bernie

His advise on buying a DB5 with unclear history:
Oh Mate forget your dream and walk away,
It could in all probability could cost you 100k plus to get an old chariot neat again.
and even then then it is still an old bit of kit.

Mate get your self a Volvo or VW,
or a GM chariot.
If you have heaps of cash hey go for it.
It is kind of hard to advice you young people .
Because you are generally so thick.
However if you a spare hundred k to blow, hey go for it.

Just for fun
Uncle Bernie

My Dear Aodonel.
My apologies for inferring that you were thick.
(late night postings when three sheets to the wind)

Best Uncle Bernie.

Im waiting for him to reply to my latest thread on deciding wether to sell the DBS() cant wait to hear what he thinks.
