Imagine breaking an FRS

Engine 3k?
Brakes £300?
Wheels £700+?
Seats ££££££££££!!

Plus all the little bits - I reckon you could make some money on them already!

It aint a Duratec Its a Focus Zetec. (With forged pistons)

For those interested here is the Focus RS engine specs...

BTW 127kw =170 ps and 158kw = 212 bhp

Highly Rated Engine for Focus RS

Following on from the 2.0-litre, 127kW Zetec engine in the American SVT Focus (Focus ST170 in Europe), Ford has now developed a turbocharged version, delivering 158kW, for use in the new European Focus RS. The engine is, however, turbocharged and intercooled, rather than being naturally aspirated. The water- cooled turbocharger is custom built by Garrett and features a stainless steel turbine housing, enabling it to withstand exhaust temperatures of up to 960°C. For optimum charge cooling, an air- to-water intercooler is fitted, which uses a dedicated water cooling circuit with a separate radiator. A high-flow fuel pump and high- flow injectors are used, to deliver the extra fuel that is needed. To cope with the extra heat that is generated, sodium filled valves are used in the cylinder head, the pistons are cooled by oil jets and a new water pump increases the efficiency of the engine cooling circuit. A new forged crankshaft is fitted, as are forged (rather than cast) aluminium pistons, which now have a floating piston pin rather than a press fit pin. This follows experience which was gained from the World Rally Championship (WRC) engines. Other modifications have been made to the valve seats, throttle body and induction system. To prevent wheel spin in the lower gears, and to reduce the stresses on some components, the engine management system alters the torque characteristics of the engine, depending on which gear is chosen. Approximately 30 Focus RS cars will be manufactured per day.

Specifications - 16V Duratec RS
Configuration: In-line 4, gasoline, turbo-intercooled Valves: 4-valves/cylinder, DOHC Displacement: 2.Q..litre (1998cc)
Bore x Stroke: 84.8mm x 88.0mm
Power: 158kW @ 5500rev/min Torque: 310N.m @ 3500rev/min Compression Ratio: 8:1
Head/Block Material: Alloy/Iron
Turbocharger: Garrett GT 2560LS Engine Management: Ford EECV

Greg, thats a ford press release

Its a ZETEC. A Duratec is totally different, what it was, Ford were brining out these new Duratec Family of engines at the same time as the Focus ST170 and Focus RS, so for MARKETING and nowt else, they badged the ST170 and RS lumps (which are both Zetecs) as Duratec ST/RS engines

Marketing is to blame

BTW - This happens in all new Fords, the power is limited by the Calibration in the ECU in First and Second gear which stops wheel spinning and also prolongs the life of the gearbox.
