Restored 309 Gti
Thought I would put a few pics up on here seein as most users like cars in general and apreciate the work put in to resto projects.
I bought this white 309 Gti shell complete with Goodwood leather to re-shell my parts off my black one that I spent 10 months restoring to have it on the road for two months and then a bus took out my drivers side and wrote it off

Luckily got a good pay out and bought the car back for £180
The next lot of pics are just a few of the work done, click the link in my sig for full resto thread.
Took me circa 7 months to do.

Always had a soft spot for these, I like the underdog feel to them, as it was never loved like the 205 was.
Looks awesome too, really nicely done, wheels suit it well

Thanks
When I went to view the car complete it had these Goodwood alloys on it,so I knew they suited the white paint well,so had to get some

The standard wheels are quite nice really, and suit the period looks, so nice to keep them just with a bit of a twist!
Wouldn't change a thing about it, 80s hot hatches are still the coolest in my eyes

always loved 309's more than 205's, respect for rebuilding this man, youve done an absolutly mint job, i couldnt of imagined a standard concourse one any better than this!.. those speedlines set it off a treat. Love it, still got the 8v too!
Pardon? Corrado vr6? handling? those words dont go together... no stock vw handles as good as a stock 205/309

i love it!
always been a secret shame of mine that i used to desperately want a 309 gti, especially a goodwood edition! if anythin i prefer urs with all the nice goodwood bits, but with the perfect white paintwork!
i live in constant fear that once i finish my RS, im gonna drive it and some gimp is gonna write it off
fair play for rebuilding though

My dad used to have a black one like yours when I was a kid and I loved it to bits, had one of them jvc stereo's you could pull out which were the nuts at that time 1994 I think. Always prefered it over my mums 205 gti 1.9. I ended up buying a 205 1.9 when I couldn't find a decent 309, ended up putting a 309 back axel on that one, felt a lot less twitchy after that.
Why the chavalier wing mirrors though? Originals would be much more in keeping and look better!

Was gutting,he said I was in his blind spot!!!
Had my 2 year old daughter in the back, covered in glass, can't remember getting out threw the pass door, was just a red blurr
Astra GTE they are off!I saw some on a 309 and thought they were better looking than standard ones, still late 80's/early 90's style and shape but abit of colour coding to make it abit more modern.I hate the standard ones TBH

Superb job there, nice to see a 309 gti being kept alive.
I had one back in 1996 which had a few tweeks (superchip, induction kit, lowered) and was a fantastic handling car and surpsingly quick. Have since had a fair few 205 gti's and none handled as well as that 309 gti.
Shame very few seem to have survived its good to see one being preserved!
