Default solenoid control valve[2wd cossie air filter]

i have recently changed my standard air filter box for a k+n cone filter, the filter has knowhere for the solenoid control valve to go [the small pipe that goes into the airbox]i can make a hole in the rubber part of the filter for it to go,but i just wondered what this pipe is for and is there anything else i can do with it,also can i fit a small breather filter onto the other pipe from the air box [the engine breather] thanx.

Just remove the pipe that goes from the airbox to amal valve as it's not required once a cone air filter is fitted, you can fit a small filter to the breather

if you take the amal pipe off the airbox, don't be surprised if the max boost raises slightly - the stub on the airbox where it normally connects, acts as something of a restrictor, acting in conjunction with the amal jets. It won't be hugely significant, but just be aware.
