The interior door handles on my s2 are scraped and make the interior look worn. What do people do to cheer them up?

I didnt think painting would work as the paint may come off in your hands. Has anyone done this? Any tips?

 

I cleaned mine up with a scourer, primed them and a coat of laquer.
Look ok to me and paint doesn't come off, give it a go.
